Doctors' responses

Guava is usually safe, but it’s slightly acidic. Eat a small, fully ripe guava at least 2–3 hours before bedtime, and avoid lying down immediately after eating to prevent heartburn.

Hello Thank you for your question At the age of 70, digestion naturally becomes more sensitive so it is good that you are paying attention to how different food affects your bod IS IT SAFE TO EAT GUAVA AT NIGHT? Generally Guava at night is not ideal for digestion Especially in older individuals Guava - -it is heavy to digest -Slightly astringent -Can increase gas formation When eaten late at night especially after 9 -10 pm it may cause -Bloating -abdominal discomfort -Disturbance in digestion As you have already noticed burning wirh bannana at night Your digestion at night is likely not strong enough to digest fruits properly BETTER WAY TO CONSUME GUAVA best time= Morning or mid after noon Eat it seperately from meals Avoid eating it after dinner IMPORTANT HABIT TO IMPROVE DIGESTION For better digestion try -Eat dinner before 8pm -Keep dinner light and warm -Avoid fruits immediately after dinner SIMPLE AYURVEDIC REMEDY FOR NIGHT TIME BURNING if burning in the chest occurs Take 1/2 tsp fennel seeds after dinner. Drink warm water with a pinch of cardamom powder Your symptoms are mostly due to late eating habits and night time digestion weakness With proper meal timing and light dinner your burning and bloating will significantly reduce Wishing you a good health 😊 Warm Regards Dr Snehal Vidhate

According to Ayurvedic principles, it is generally not recommended to eat guava at night. The burning sensation you experience after eating a banana at night is likely Amlapitta (Acid Reflux/GERD)---- Late Meals: You mentioned eating after 10 PM. In Ayurveda, the period between 10 PM and 2 AM is dominated by Pitta (heat/fire). Eating heavy or sour-sweet fruits like bananas during this time interferes with the body’s natural cooling process, causing the “burning” or “acidic” rise in the chest. Fermentation: When a heavy fruit like a banana sits in a slow-moving digestive tract at night, it can ferment, leading to the bloating you’ve noticed.

Namaste, At your age, digestion becomes a little slower, especially at night. Since you are getting burning in the chest after eating banana at night, it shows that your stomach is sensitive in the late hours. Guava is slightly heavy and high in fiber, so eating it at night may cause gas or mild acidity. It is better to avoid guava at night. Try to finish your dinner a little earlier, preferably before 8–8:30 PM. Keep dinner light and warm. Avoid fruits at night. If you feel hungry, you can take a small cup of warm milk (if it suits you) or light soup. Since your burning started only recently and is mild, simple changes in meal timing and avoiding fruits at night may help. u can have 1 tsf avipattikar choornam at bedtime with 1 cup warm water. If it continues regularly, then you can consult for proper guidance.

According to ayurveda no fruits should be eaten at dinner time. It is always adviceable to have fruits in the morning before sunset. Also it is very important to remember that NO FRUIT & MILK combination should every be taken or it can cause many conditions related to the respiration and skin issues.
