How to treat severe seasonal allergies with blocked nostril and thick mucus? - #56091

I get seasonal allergies every year in April and usually they last for a month. Last year they went bad and continued for 4-5 months. I had continuous sneezes and badly blocked nose in the night. Finally after consulting here I did jal neti with ajwain and tulsi water and had Haridrakhand.That cured me pretty much 80-90%. But my right nostril was still blocked somewhat even after that. This year when my allergies came back in April I am using cetrizine every 3-4 days 35mg. But my right nostril is badly blocked. Thats why I am not able to do jal neti as water doesn’t come out. When I lie on my left side it sometimes open and lot of mucus comes in my throat. It is sometimes thick with some yellow/green mucus as well. 2-3 time a big hard solid black/green mucus also came in my throat from my nose and once while blowing. It sometimes open when I do long walks as well but then blocks again. Sneezing and runny nose also is continuing. Usually when I get some cold/viral i use Fifatrol.

Your symptoms suggest chronic allergic rhinitis with possible sinus blockage on the right side. Thick yellow/green mucus and hard plugs indicate trapped mucus and inflammation, so first focus should be on opening drainage rather than forceful Jal Neti.
For now stop Jal Neti until the nostril opens better. Continue avoiding dust, pollen exposure, cold foods, curd at night, and fan/AC directly on face during sleep.
Haridrakhand – 1 teaspoon twice daily after food
Sitopaladi churna – 1 teaspoon with honey twice daily
Anu taila – 2 drops in each nostril morning and evening
Steam inhalation with ajwain once daily
Long walks helping your nose open is a good sign that circulation and drainage improve with movement.
If one-sided blockage continues for long or mucus becomes foul smelling, ENT evaluation for sinus polyp/deviated septum may be needed.
