It gets dark in my eyes and my hands are shaking - #150

R Srinivas

I'm 17 years old, it's been getting dark in my eyes for a very long time, but I didn't care about that because all my friends have the same thing, but about half a year ago my limbs sometimes started shaking, and at the same time it got dark in my eyes, it was 2-3 times, then it didn't happen for about several months, and today my dad called me, when I went to him, I feel that it will darken in my eyes now, I hold on to the door and that's it, I fell, when I came to, my hands were shaking and the blackness was slowly leaving my eyes, plus my hair is falling out very much, even in some places small bald patches appeared, what could it be?

Hello Srinivasa, Your symptoms, including vision blackouts, shaking, fainting, and hair loss, could be due to:

Anemia or Iron Deficiency: Causes dizziness, fainting, and hair loss. Low Blood Pressure: Can lead to blackouts and shaking, especially when moving suddenly. Nutritional Deficiencies: Lacking vitamins like B or D could contribute to these symptoms. Thyroid Imbalance: May cause both hair loss and shakiness. Neurological Issues: Possible but less common at your age. Please consult a neurologist ASAP to rule out anything severe.

At 17 years old, experiencing symptoms like vision darkening, limb shaking, and significant hair loss can be concerning. In Ayurveda, these symptoms may suggest an imbalance in the body’s doshas, particularly Vata and Pitta. The darkening of vision and shaking could indicate a possible issue with blood circulation or a disturbance in the nervous system, while the hair loss and bald patches might be related to stress or an imbalance in nutrients.

To address these concerns, it’s essential to consult an Ayurvedic practitioner for a comprehensive evaluation. They may recommend dietary changes that include nourishing foods like whole grains, healthy fats (such as ghee and coconut oil), and plenty of fruits and vegetables. Including supplements like Brahmi (Bacopa monnieri) for mental clarity and Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) for stress management could be beneficial.

Panchakarma treatments, particularly Shirodhara (pouring warm oil on the forehead) and Abhyanga (herbal oil massage), may help alleviate stress and improve overall vitality. Additionally, ensuring adequate hydration, practicing yoga for physical and mental balance, and incorporating relaxation techniques such as meditation can further support your well-being. Regular check-ups and consultations with healthcare professionals are vital to rule out any underlying health issues.

Alright, first things first, it’s super important to take these symptoms seriously, right? So, the combination of your symptoms—getting dark vision, shaking limbs, and the hair issues—could be pointing to something deeper, possibly even linked to nutritional deficiencies or like a blood circulation issue. I’m not saying to panic, but it’s a good idea to see a medical professional as soon as you can. They’ll work with you to rule out anything serious or urgent, you know?

In Ayurveda, we consider these things connected to Vata imbalances, which could link with nerve issues, circulation, or even helpful stress handling. To manage the Vata, starting with your diet can make some waves. Warm, moist, grounding foods like ginger-infused soups or oatmeal are beneficial. Try to boost your iron intake too, by incorporating things like spinach and lentils since that could help with the dizziness.

Breathing exercises are something else to consider. Nadi Shodhana, which is alternate nostril breathing, can help calm your nervous system. Do it once a day, preferably in the morning for 5-10 minutes. Helps to settle the mind and potentially a calming effect on nervousness.

Another thing to remember is staying hydrated. Dehydration can sometimes sneak up and play a role, so just be aware of that too. However, if symptoms get worse, it can’t be stressed enough to get that checked out quickly!

For the hair, it might be worth looking into B vitamins or amalaki (an Indian gooseberry), which helps nourish the hair. Use amla oil massages for your scalp – might notice some improvements there.

These steps aren’t gonna replace seeing a doctor, by any means, but they might help stabilize until you get there. Better safe than sorry, you know?
