Your symptoms suggest Vata and Pitta imbalance, possibly due to muscle tension, poor circulation, or nerve compression from the stiff neck. Do you also experience dizziness, light sensitivity, or sinus congestion? Any history of high blood pressure or anxiety? Try Prasarini Taila (warm oil massage on the neck and shoulders) to relieve tension. Take Godanti Bhasma (125 mg twice daily with honey) for head pressure. Drink Triphala-infused water at night to detoxify and reduce inflammation. Avoid excessive screen time, heavy workouts, and spicy foods. If symptoms persist, consider a cervical spine check-up. You should regularly do neck exercises and breathing exercises. Let me know if you have eye strain or blurred vision, as additional remedies may be needed.

Hi Dave,

Can you tell me if you experience any neck stiffness or tightness, especially after exercising or long hours of sitting? Does the pressure in your head and eyes worsen with certain movements or activities, like bending forward or looking at a screen? Lastly, have you had any issues with posture, such as slouching, which might be affecting your neck and causing the pressure in your head and eyes? This will help me provide a more tailored approach for relief.

Given a pressure in your head and back of your eyes without sleep or appetite issues, it seems like there’s an imbalance. With some history of stiff neck, the Vata dosha might be affected, stirring up this sensation. Vata is about movement, nerve impulses, and when it’s out of whack, it can bring about tension. But yeah, it could be more than that sometimes!

First off, stay hydrated—a key in keeping Vata balanced. Warm water is your best friend here. Add a pinch of cumin seeds when you boil it, let it seep for a bit, then drink. Easy, right? Eat regular meals, favoring warm, cooked foods. Think soups, steamed veggies, and, maybe even khichdi. Avoid cold foods, too much caffeine—these can spike the Vata.

Let’s bring in some gentle yoga, focused on stress release and neck mobility. Cat-cow stretches, seated twists, and neck rotations warm the muscles up nicely. Nothing too intense. Listen to your body.

Massaging the neck and scalp with warm sesame oil or brahmi oil brings relief, comforts the tissues. Do it an hour before a bath for the best result. Also, shirodhara therapy, with oil gently poured on your forehead, could be magical if you can access a certified Ayurvedic practitioner.

For the eyes, try washing them with cool, rose water to help relieve the pressure. It’s soothing and gentle. Trataka meditation—gazing at a flame or fixed point—may calm the mind, enhance focus. But avoid screen time late in the day, will ya?

And rest! Not just sleep, I mean, really rest. Allow stillness; take short breaks from mental exertion. Check in with stress levels—often a silent culprit behind head tensions.

All this might help, but if the pressure is too persistent—or gets worse, consider seeing a healthcare professional. Safe is always better than sorry, afterall.
