How should we treat Osteoprosis - #23339

My grandmother is 80 years old she is suffering from osteoporosis spinal while dr said tha her bones are weak and there is risk of fracture kindly suggest some best advice to treat this problem she is in pain from last 3 4 days

First, in her diet, focus on foods that strengthen the bones. Sesame seeds (til) are highly recommended in Ayurveda for calcium, which is vital for bone health. She can take 1-2 teaspoons of roasted sesame seeds daily. Additionally, cooked leafy greens like spinach and kale, are beneficial. Including dairy products like milk and yogurt, if she’s tolerant, will give added calcium.

For her digestive health, consider promoting her agni (digestive fire) with a pinch of ginger, black pepper, and cumin in her meals. These help in better absorption of nutrients.

Applying warm sesame oil gently on her joints and back can help alleviate pain and strengthen bones. Sesame oil is rich in calcium and can be massaged daily before her warm bath.

Encourage gentle exercises like light walking, or yoga tailored for elderly, to enhance bone strength and maintain balance. Avoid any strenuous movements that could risk fracture.

As an Ayurvedic supplement, Laksha Guggulu is quite beneficial for bone health. Consult an experienced Ayurvedic practitioner before starting any herbal preparations to ensure it suits her constitution and current medications.

Ensure her exposure to early morning sunlight for about 15-20 minutes, as Vitamin D is crucial for calcium absorption.
