I have high eosinophilia. Doctors did my biopsy but found nothing.. i face breathing issues, eating issues as well as swelling over my body. - #26527

Drishti

I got sick in october 2024 and diagnosed high eosinophilia and aspergyllus infection. Doctor gave me steroids and anti fungal medicines for 4 months… but again in canada june i started having issues swelling over my face, couldn’t swallow couldn’t breathe properly…. So they did my MRI and CT scan and found inflammation in my lungs and brain(pituitary gland) and oesophagus.still couldn’t diagnose anything thus they did my salivary gland and lymph node biopsy… its difficult to find the problem. Now they again gave me steroids for high eosinophilia. Still problem is unfound

High eosinophilia together with symptoms like breathing issues, inflammation, and swelling, as well as the finding of inflammation in various body parts, indicates a complex condition, which requires careful management. Ayurveda can support by aiming to balance the aggravated doshas and strengthen the body’s natural defense mechanisms.

Firstly, observe your dietary habits as they play a significant role in inflammatory states. Include warm, cooked, and easy-to-digest foods to calm Vata and Pitta doshas. Kitchari, a blend of rice and mung dal, can be a soothing staple. Avoid cold, raw, or overly spicy foods and reduce intake of dairy, tomatoes, and fermented products, which might worsen inflammation or mucus formation.

Regular pranayama can greatly assist in improving respiratory function. Practice Nadi Shodhana (alternate nostril breathing) daily, it helps to balance the body’s energies, clear the respiratory channels, and improve oxygen intake. Start with a few minutes, gradually increasing to about 10-15 minutes.

Herbal assistance might include Turmeric for its renowned anti-inflammatory properties. Curcumin, the active compound, can help reduce inflammation. Consider taking 1 teaspoon in warm water, or as an advised blend, once or twice a day.

For supporting digestion and metabolism (Agni), try Triphala to help cleanse and support your digestive tract. Take it at night, mixed in warm water, to maintain regularity and detoxification of the digestive system.

While Ayurveda is supportive, considering the complexity of your condition and ongoing conventional treatments, continue closely monitoring with your healthcare provider. Should symptoms worsen or not improve, it’s crucial to seek urgent medical evaluation, as certain underlying conditions might require specialized medical intervention. Balancing systemic treatment between allopathic and Ayurvedic methodologies can provide a comprehensive and holistic approach to managing your health.

High eosinophilia and its symptoms can be complex to navigate, particularly with the involvement of the lungs and brain. Ayurveda can provide supportive care, though you must prioritize the guidance of your medical professionals, especially since serious inflammation in multiple organs has been observed. Before integrating any Ayurvedic practices, ensure these will not interfere with your ongoing treatment.

From a Siddha-Ayurvedic perspective, balancing the doshas is critical. High eosinophilia could be linked to imbalances in Pitta and Kapha dosha, given inflammation and mucus-related symptoms. Begin by incorporating specific dietary changes. Favor Pitta-pacifying and light Kapha-reducing foods. Opt for cooling, grounding meals like cooked vegetables, rice, and lentils; avoid excessively spicy, oily, or heavy foods.

Consider using herbal teas like Tulsi (Holy Basil) or Licorice, which can support respiratory health. Tulsi helps in clearing respiratory blockages, while Licorice is known for soothing inflammation. It’s essential to consume these under an Ayurvedic practitioner’s guidance.

Meditative practices and Pranayama (breath control exercises) can be beneficial, but since you have breathing issues, start very gently. Nadi Shodhana (alternate nostril breathing) is gentle and balancing. Practice this only 2-3 minutes a day to avoid overstraining.

A regulated lifestyle will support your recovery. Sleep and stress management are critical to recalibrate your body’s natural rhythms. However, it might be worth pursuing another opinion with a specialist who can further explore underlying causes, given the serious nature of your symptoms. If symptoms escalate, immediate medical intervention remains crucial.
