how to improve gum health naturally - #37465

Grace

I am really concerned about my gum health lately. I've noticed they bleed sometimes when I brush, and there’s this weird bad breath that just won’t go away! A friend of mine said it could be because of what I eat or even stress, but I really don't know what to do. I try to brush regularly, but maybe I’m not doing it right, or maybe it’s the toothpaste? My mom used to tell me about natural remedies but never really got into details. Someone mentioned using clove oil or maybe some sort of herbal rinse, but I have no clue how to improve gum health naturally besides that. I've been eating more leafy greens and trying to drink more water, but is there more I can do? Are there specific foods I should be eating or avoiding? I’m also worried about possibly needing to go to a dentist, which I don't have the best experience with. Like, should I be mixing in oil pulling or something? Any suggestions on how to improve gum health naturally would mean a lot! I'm just feeling kinda lost and want to avoid anything too aggressive that might make it worse. Thanks in advance for any help!

Bleeding gums and persistent bad breath are often linked to gum inflammation, known as gingivitis. It’s wise to address these concerns naturally, and Ayurveda offers several effective solutions. Start with oral hygiene practices adjusted for your specific condition. Consider using a softer toothbrush if bleeding occurs to reduce irritation. Place slight pressure on the gums while brushing in circular motions.

Oil pulling can be extremely beneficial. Swish a tablespoon of sesame or coconut oil in your mouth for about 15 minutes before spitting it out. This traditional practice draws out toxins and can improve oral health in a gentle manner.

Incorporate ingredients like triphala powder into your diet; it is known for its overall benefits on oral health. You can use triphala as a mouth rinse by mixing it with warm water. Its astringent properties help shrinks swollen gums and flush out oral bacteria.

Clove oil is indeed effective; oregano oil can also be useful due to its antimicrobial properties. Dab a drop on your hand, use a clean q-tip to apply onto the gums carefully. Remember not to use excessive amounts, as clove oil is quite potent.

Diet is essential too. Avoid sticky or sugary foods that can cling to the teeth and contribute to plaque. Eat crunchy vegetables like carrots and apples, which naturally clean teeth and promote saliva production to naturally balance the pH levels in your mouth.

Herbal teas such as licorice and chamomile can be soothing; these have anti-inflammatory properties that may reduce gum irritation and discomfort.

Stress, indeed, affects oral health as well. Practice yoga or meditation, which balances stress hormones, thereby aiding gum health. Keep hydrated, as water helps wash away food particles and bacteria.

If symptoms persist or worsen, consulting a dentist is essential to circumvent severe gum disease. This balanced approach should put gums on a path to renewal and vitality, aligning with both modern and traditional wisdom.
