can we drink beetroot and carrot juice daily - #37945
I am trying to figure out if we can drink beetroot and carrot juice daily because I've been feeling really sluggish lately. Like, I wake up, and no matter how much sleep I get, I just feel tired. A friend suggested beetroot and carrot juice, said it’s packed with vitamins and good for energy. So, I started mixing them up in the mornings, thinking it would be an easy way to get some nutrients in. Funny enough, after a few days, I felt like I had more pep in my step, but then I started getting this weird tingly feeling in my hands sometimes? I dunno if it’s from the juice or something else I’m doing wrong! I also read online that these juices have lots of sugar - like natural sugar, is that bad? Can we drink beetroot and carrot juice daily without any issues? Are their benefits gonna stay if I drink it every day? I’m just worried that I’ll overdo it or something, like how too much of anything is bad. Anyway, I want to keep feeling good but don’t wanna mess things up. Should I be alternating with other juices or how much of beetroot and carrot juice is okay? I could really use some guidance, thanks!

While beetroot and carrot juice can be an incredibly nutritious addition to your diet, so drinking it daily may not be necessary or ideal for everyone. Ayurveda suggests considering individual constitution or prakriti when integrating foods and drinks into your daily routine. Beetroot and carrot both are generally regarded as blood purifiers and rejuvenators, rich in vitamins and minerals like Vitamin A, C, potassium and folate. However, they also have a warming quality — potentially more stimulating for individuals with a pitta or vata imbalance.
If you’re feeling sluggish, it may be helpful to first assess your overall lifestyle and diet. The sluggishness could be attributed to several factors, including irregular meal times, an imbalance of agni (your digestive fire), or lack of sleep quality. If your dosha is predominantly kapha, you might find such juices to be invigorating, but moderation is key. The same applies if you’re experiencing tingling in your hands; this may be an early sign of a dosha imbalance or another underlying health concern.
Yes, both beetroot and carrot have natural sugars, so while it is a good source of instant energy, it’s also wise to consume moderately, particularly if you’re sensitive to fluctuations in blood sugar. For a balanced approach, limit your intake to about half a glass per day, and consider alternating with other juices like pomegranate or amla juice, which offers differing health benefits and can help maintain doshas equilibrium.
It could be beneficial to pair the juice intake with grounding foods, like cooked grains and light soups if your digestion permits. Also, be mindful of how your body responds after consuming these juices for a few days.
In case the tingling sensation in your hands persists, it would be best to seek medical advice from a professional to rule out other potential causes. Overall, remember that the true essence of Ayurveda centers around balance and moderation.
