I get burning sensation in stomach once I eat food with little spicy even. Burning sensation is felt only in stomach not in chest or heart. I have low apetite. I do NOT have acid reflux symptoms like belching, heartburn etc. Sometimes stool is yellowish and not properly formed. Tongue is somewhat white coated particularly morning. Namaste,
Your symptoms — burning in the stomach after meals (even mildly spicy food), low appetite, yellowish or unformed stools, and a white-coated tongue — suggest Mandagni (weak digestion) with Ama (undigested food) and mild Pitta aggravation ( heat) in the stomach (Amashaya).
This means your digestive fire is low, so food isn’t getting properly digested, and the undigested portion turns into Ama, which irritates the stomach lining and causes a burning sensation. Because the burning is only in the stomach and, this is likely an early stage of stomach acid imbalance or mild acidity.
Ayurvedic Advice
Diet (Ahara):
Take light, luke warm food such as rice gruel, pomegranate, moong dal, freshly prepared buttermilk, cooked vegetables, and a little ghee.
Drink warm water boiled with jeera (cumin) or coriander seeds.
Include amla, ghee, and bitter vegetables like bottle gourd.
Avoid spicy, sour, fried, oily, and fermented foods, as well as citrus fruits, coffee, and late-night eating.
Lifestyle (Vihara):
Eat calmly, at regular times, and don’t skip meals.
Avoid lying down or sleeping immediately after eating.
Practice Sheetali pranayama or simple deep breathing to calm Pitta.
Sleep well and manage stress.
Medicines (under guidance)
If burning or poor appetite continues for more than a few weeks, please consult an Ayurvedic physician for a detailed check and personalized treatment.
Avoid oily, spicy and processed foods. Regular exercise. Increase intake of raw vegetables and fruits. Tab. Yashtimadhu 2-0-2 Tab. Sunthi 1-0-1 Follow up after 1week.
Your symptoms suggest an imbalance in the Pitta dosha, which governs the digestive fire or “Agni”. The burning sensation and low appetite indicate that Pitta may be aggravated. Additionally, the yellowish stools and white coating on your tongue, particularly in the morning, could suggest poor digestion or “Ama” (toxins) accumulation.
To begin addressing these issues, dietary modifications are crucial. Try avoiding spicy, oily, and fried foods, as they tend to exacerbate Pitta. Opt for cooling foods like cucumbers, coriander, fennel seeds, and coconut water. These can soothe the digestive tract and help balance Pitta. Incorporate more cooling spices such as cumin and coriander in your meals, which are also beneficial for stimulating digestion without aggravating Pitta.
Additionally, herbal remedies like Amalaki (Indian Gooseberry) can be effective. It not only cools down Pitta but also support digestion and elimination of ama. Take Amalaki powder in the morning with warm water on an empty stomach. Start with 1/2 teaspoon per day and adjust as needed.
Another important aspect is your eating habits. Eat smaller meals, and ensure you chew your food thoroughly. Avoid drinking large amounts of water immediately before or after meals, as it can dilute the digestive juices, further overshadowing agni. Warm ginger tea, sipped throughout the day, can enhance digestion naturally.
For the white coating on the tongue, practice tongue scraping every morning to remove ama. It’s a simple way to immediately boost oral hygiene and reduce toxins. Use a gentle tongue scraper, starting from the back and moving forward.
If these changes don’t improve your symptoms within a few weeks, consult with a professional Ayurvedic practitioner for personalized herbal formulations or therapies tailored to your unique prakriti. In chronic or intense cases, seeking medical evaluation is wise to rule out any underlying conditions.
