can cavity be cured at home - #41476
I am really worried about my teeth lately. I just got back from the dentist, and they told me I have a small cavity, but honestly, I don’t wanna go back for fillings or anything invasive. Can cavity be cured at home? I mean, I read that there’s natural ways to strengthen teeth and even reverse early decay, but like, is that really true? I've been brushing and using mouthwash religiously but still feel like I’m losing the battle. Last week, I started oil pulling with coconut oil, like some blog suggested, and I think I might’ve noticed my teeth looking a bit shinier? But maybe I’m just imagining things. I drink green tea all the time too, and I heard that might help. Also, I've pretty much cut out sugary snacks, which was hard! Like, didn't we all grow up on candy and stuff? 😅 If anyone has any tips or hacks they’ve tried, I would really appreciate hearing them. Can cavity be cured at home for sure, or am I better off just accepting that I need a dentist? I feel kinda lost here and really hope there's some way to manage this without a drill! Thanks in advance for any advice!

Addressing cavities at home without professional intervention is a topic that many explore with interest, but here’s the grounded perspective you need. In Ayurveda, there’s emphasis on preventative care and strengthening teeth, yet it’s crucial to understand that once a cavity has formed, it’s a structural damage that typically requires professional attention to restore. Expecting to completely reverse a cavity at home isn’t largely supported by proven evidence.
That being said, there’s certainly steps you can take to support oral health and potentially slow the progression of tooth decay, especially if caught in the early, demineralization phase. Oil pulling with coconut oil is indeed one approach rooted in Ayurvedic practices. It may help maintain oral hygiene by reducing harmful bacteria and providing a cleaner oral environment, which you’ve already started. The shiny appearance may be simply due to removal of surface debris and could signify better oral cleanliness.
Green tea is rich in antioxidants and has catechins that can aid in reducing oral bacterial accumulation, so continuing with it could be beneficial indirectly to oral health. Reducing sugary snacks is a solid move, as sugar can feed harmful bacteria in the mouth, accelerating decay.
To support further, consider incorporating a mix of triphala powder with water as a mouth rinse. Triphala has antibacterial properties which could additionally support dental health. Chewing on neem sticks and drinking plenty of water to maintain salivary flow, which naturally protects teeth, might also be helpful.
It’s important to note, though, if you are already experiencing cavity, the best course might still be to consult the dentist for options beyond just fillings. There are less invasive treatments available. In the meanwhile, continue maintaining the oral hygiene practices and dietary changes that you’re already on. Ultimately, it’s balance between Ayurvedic practices and modern dentistry that can provide optimal care for dental issues.
