Doctor information
Experience:
1 year
Education:
SDM Institute of Ayurveda & Hospital
Academic degree:
Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery
Area of specialization:
I am working mainly with lifestyle and metabolic disorders — diabetes, obesity, thyroid issues, lipid problems — and for me these are not just numbers on a report but signs of deep imbalance. I use chikitsa, Panchakarma, and dietetics to help patients find balance again, but I also try to keep it realistic cause not everyone can follow rigid regimens. I also spend a lot of time with digestive and liver cases. Indigestion, IBS-like grahani, acidity, sluggish liver — all those show up again n again. Rasayana-based care often makes a big diff here. Skin and joint problems too are regular — dandruff, eczema, psoriasis, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis — where internal meds plus lepas and therapies give real relief when done right. Respiratory care is another part — asthma, bronchitis, seasonal allergies, where rasayanas and Panchakarma help long term instead of just inhalers. In pediatrics, I worked on fortified Swarnaprashana and even community campaigns to support immunity and cognition in kids. Women’s health is close to my practice as well — postnatal & neonatal care (certified), menstrual regulation, reproductive wellness. Along with that I bring in nutrition expertise (certified at NIA Jaipur), making seasonal, prakriti-based food plans. On the academic side, I did a clinical trial on Priyaladi Lepa for dandruff and published in journals like IJRAP, JISM, JAIMS. Health awareness & education matter to me — I keep trying to make Ayurveda more approachable in digital spaces without losing its authenticity.
Achievements:
I am grateful for some academic milestones — like securing 1st rank in Charaka Samhita and top places in Sanskrit, Rachana Shareera and overall perfomance too. Research wise, I worked as PI on an RGUHS-funded trial with Priyaladi Lepa for Darunaka, and had few papers published in journals like IJRAP, JISM, JAIMS. I also presented 15+ papers/posters at conferences on Rasayana, Epigenetics, hepatic care, menstrual health. Won prizes, was top 10 in Himalaya Ayurwhiz, and created a fortified Swarnaprashana with Shataputi Abhraka Bhasma.

I am Dr. Puliyur Mahalakshmi Kannan, an Ayurvedic physician, researcher and someone who’s trying to make Ayurveda practical in today’s world without losing its roots. My BAMS training at SDM Institute of Ayurveda, Bengaluru gave me a strong classical base, and I was lucky to secure multiple university ranks along the way. But honestly, what stayed with me more than marks was the exposure to clinical practice, the texts we read again n again, and how all of it connects when you see real patients. I worked as Chief Ayurveda Consultant & Dietician at Ayur Ayurveda Wellness, where I mostly focused on lifestyle and metabolic disorders — diabetes, digestion problems, skin & joint diseases, even respiratory issues that needed more than just short-term fixes. Here I really leaned on chikitsa sutras, Panchakarma, and dietetics to design plans that people could actually follow in daily life. Some cases taught me patience, others pushed me to rethink protocols, but each added something to how I see Ayurveda. Right now, I am Chief Advisor & Consultant at SthotraStuti Ayur Organic. My role here is broader — not only consultations but also helping with product formulation, brand growth, and health awareness programs for community. It’s a space where Ayurveda meets people in diff. forms, not just in clinics. I also started Haridashva Ayurveda — my own initiative to bring classical Ayurveda closer to science-backed innovation. One work I feel proud of is developing a fortified Swarnaprashana with Shataputi Abhraka Bhasma, aimed at building immunity & cognition in children. This came out of both tradition and practical need I saw in families asking for safe pediatric formulations. My focus areas include lifestyle disorders, pediatrics, dietetics, Panchakarma, preventive care, and integrative research. At the end, my aim is simple — authentic Ayurveda, adapted carefully for today’s health challenges, without losing the essence of what our texts tried to teach.
