Seeking Solution for Bile Reflux While Managing H. Pylori - #50476
I seek definitive solution to BILE reflux that started a month ago while fighting with h pylori with natural anti microbials and possibly my esophageal canal is acidified and my stomach acid is reduced.

Doctors' responses
Bile reflux while managing H. pylori indicates disturbance at multiple levels: Pachaka Pitta imbalance Amlapitta condition Possible Mandagni (low digestive fire) Reverse movement of Apana & Samana Vata (Udavarta) Irritation of Annavaha Srotas (esophageal lining) Bile reflux is not only “excess acid.” It is a dysfunction of directional movement of Pitta + Vata. If stomach acid is low and antimicrobials are strong/drying, Vata may increase, worsening reverse flow. A one-month duration suggests it is still reversible with proper correction. Core Treatment Principles Normalize Agni gently (not aggressively) Pacify aggravated Pitta Correct Vata direction Heal esophageal and gastric mucosa Improve gastric emptying Ayurvedic Medicines (General Guidance) Under supervision only: 1. Avipattikar Churna ½ tsp twice daily after food with warm water Reduces Amlapitta and regulates Pitta without suppressing digestion. 2. Kamdudha Ras (Mukta Yukta if available) 1 tablet twice daily after food Soothes burning and Pitta irritation. 3. Yashtimadhu (Licorice) Powder ½ tsp with warm water or milk twice daily Heals mucosa and reduces inflammation. 4. Shankh Bhasma 125–250 mg twice daily after food Helps in acid regulation and reduces irritation. or Shankh vati 1-0-1 Twice daily Before food If severe nausea present: Sutshekhar Ras (under physician guidance) Avoid strong bitter antimicrobials temporarily if reflux worsens after taking them. Food Guidelines (Very Important) Eat: Warm, freshly cooked food Soft rice + moong dal Steamed vegetables (bottle gourd, ash gourd, pumpkin) Small quantity ghee Buttermilk (diluted, spiced lightly with roasted cumin and it should not be sour) Ripe bananas (if tolerated) Coconut water (room temperature) Avoid: Raw salads Fermented foods Excess garlic/ginger during active reflux Tomatoes, vinegar, Tamarind Citrus fruits Coffee Chocolate Fried foods Long fasting Large meals Eat small meals every 3–4 hours. Do not overeat. Lifestyle Corrections Eat dinner 3 hours before sleep. Avoid lying down immediately after food (minimum 45–60 minutes upright). Walk slowly for 10–15 minutes after meals. Avoid tight clothing around abdomen. Avoid heavy core workouts for now. Sleep Posture (Very Important in Bile Reflux) Elevate head end of bed 4–6 inches. Sleep on left side. This reduces bile movement toward esophagus. Avoid sleeping flat on back after heavy meals. Breathing Practices Morning: Sheetali or Sheetkari pranayama (cooling) Gentle Nadi Shodhana Avoid strong Kapalabhati or Bhastrika until reflux settles. About Stomach Acid “Low” Feeling Sometimes when mucosa is inflamed, symptoms mimic low acid but actually represent: Irregular acid secretion Poor gastric emptying Weak lower esophageal sphincter Do not self-experiment with strong acid stimulants during active irritation. Expected Improvement Timeline 1–2 weeks: burning reduces 3–4 weeks: reflux frequency decreases 6–8 weeks: mucosal healing If symptoms worsen, unexplained weight loss, black stools, or severe pain occur, immediate medical evaluation is required.
