👉 If burning persists despite Nitrofurantoin, you should get a urine routine + culture done. Sometimes the bacteria isn’t sensitive, or it may not be a bacterial UTI at all (vaginal infection, dehydration, urine acidity, etc.). - Provisional Diagnosis: Mutradaha / Pittaja Mutrakrichra 📜 Ayurvedic Prescription 1️⃣ Chandanasava ➡️ 15 ml + equal water ➡️ BD after meals 2️⃣ Gokshuradi Guggulu ➡️ 2 tablets ➡️ BD after meals 3️⃣ Punarnavadi Kashayam ➡️ 15 ml + 15 ml warm water ➡️ BD before meals 4️⃣ Sheetaprabha Vati ➡️ 2 tablets ➡️ BD 5️⃣ Yavakshara / Ushirasava (optional, if severe burning) ➡️ Once daily 🍃 Pathya (Do’s) ✔️ Drink 2.5–3 L water/day ✔️ Coconut water, barley water ✔️ Plain rice, moong dal ✔️ Buttermilk (not sour) 🚫 Apathya (Avoid) ❌ Spicy, oily, fried food ❌ Tea, coffee, alcohol ❌ Very sour foods ❌ Holding urine ❌ Excess heat exposure ⏳ Duration 🗓️ 7–10 days, review after urine report ⚠️Advice If itching, discharge, or foul smell is present → consider vaginal infection, not just UTI Do not stop Nitrofurantoin midway unless doc.prescribe Avoid self-medication if fever or flank pain appears

Hello. I get how annoying it can be when it burns when you urinate, especially when you’re on antibiotics and still feeling it. But dont worry we are here to help you out😊 YOUR CONCERN – It burns when you urinate – It’s been happening for less than a week. – No fever, discharge, or back pain. – You’re taking Nitrofurantoin 100 mg (probably for a UTI). This happens a lot. Often, the burning doesn’t mean the infection is still there. WHY IT MIGHT BE HAPPENING Even on antibiotics, burning can stick around because: * Your urinary tract lining is inflamed (the infection’s going away, but things are still irritated). * Your urine is too concentrated (you’re not drinking enough water, sweating a lot, or dehydrated). * Your urine is acidic (from tea, coffee, spicy foods, Vitamin C, or protein powders). * The antibiotic is irritating your bladder. So, the bacteria might be dying, but your bladder and urethra still feel raw. WHAT TO DO NOW 1. Don’t stop taking the Nitrofurantoin. Finish the whole course. If you stop too soon, the infection could come back or get resistant to the medicine. 2. Drink more fluids - about 2.5–3 liters of water a day. Try also: – Coconut water – Barley water – Plain ORS This will make your urine less concentrated and reduce the burning. 3. Avoid these until you feel better: –Tea, coffee – Alcohol – Spicy food – Citrus fruit – Multivitamins These can make your pee acidic and worsen the burning. AYURVEDIC INTERNAL MEDICATION (it’s safe with antibiotics): 1.Chandraprabha Vati: 1 tablet twice a day after meals 2. Gokshuradi Guggulu: 1 tablet twice a day These may: –Soothe your urinary tract lining –Reduce inflammation –Keep the infection from coming back Usually, the burning gets better in 48–72 hours once you drink more water and the irritation calms down – even if you’re still finishing your antibiotics. Warm Regards Dr. Snehal Vidhate

HELLO, Burning while passing urine usually means that the urine passage is irritated or inflamed. This can happen due to -mild infection -heat inside the body -concentrated urine due to less water intake -reaction to medicines -early urinary tract disturbance even without fever or pain In your case -symptoms started recently less than 1 week -no fever, pain, discharge, or blood -already taking an antibiotic This suggests a mild or early stage condition, mainly related to heat and irritation, rather than a severe infection According to Ayurveda -urine is formed and carried through urinary channels -when Pitta dosha (heat element) becomes aggravated it= heats the urine, irritate the urinary tract, causing burning stinging discomfort This condition is called -Pittaja Mutrakricchra/ Mutra daha CAUSES OF PITTA AGGRAVATION -dehydration -spicy, salty, sour foods -excess heat exposure -stress -medicines with heating nature (including some antibiotics) -suppression of urge to urinate Even when bacteria are controlled by antibiotics, pitta irritation may continue, which explains persistent burning. TREATMENT GOALS -cool down excess pitta -soothe and heal urinary trat lining -flush toxins and heat through urine -prevent recurrence -support antibiotics without interfearance INTERNAL MEDICATIONS 1) USHIRASAVA= 20 ml with warm water twice daily after meals for 15 days =cools urine, reduces burning sensation, soothes inflamed urinary lining, balance pitta 2) GOKSHURADI GUGGULU= 2 tabs twice daily after meals for 15 days =reduces inflammation, improves urine flow, supports kidney and bladder health, prevents recurrence 3) AMALAKI CHURNA= 3gm once daily with water in morning =strong pitta pacifier, heals mucosal lining, supports imunity EXTERNAL TREATMENT 1) SITZ BATH -sit in a tub of lukewarm water not hot for 15 days once daily =releives burning, soothes urethral irritation, improves local circulation DIET -coconut water daily -barley water -rice gruel -milk boiled and cooled -bottle gourd, ash gourd -cucumber -plain rice, soft chapati -coriander water AVOID COMPLETELY -chillies, pickles -sour fruits -tomatoes -fried foods -junk food -alcohol -coffee, cola, excess tea LIFESTYLE -drink water frequently do not wait for thirst -do NOT hold urine -avoid excessive heat exposure -wear loose cotton underwear -maintain genital hygiene avoid perfumed products -adequate sleep YOGA ASANAS -pawanmuktasana -malasana -bhujangasana -vajrasana PRANAYAM -Sheetali= cooling -sheetkari -nadi sodhana HOME REMEDIES -coriander seed water =soak 1 tsp seed overnight-> boil -> cool -> drink -Barley water= excellent urinary coolant -Coconut water= natural urinary cleanser -Buttermilk plain, diluted= only if digestion is good This condition is common, mild, and fully reversible when treated early Ayurveda focuses on correcting the internal heat imbalance, not just suppressing symptoms With proper cooling diet, hydration, and support -burning usually reduces within 2-4 days -complete relief occurs within 7-10 days DO FOLLOW HOPE THIS MIGHT BE HELPFUL THANK YOU DR. MAITRI ACHARYA

I UNDERSTAND YOUR CONCERN AND BURNING DURING URINATION EVEN FOR A SHORT TIME CAN BE VERY UNCOMFORTABLE IN AYURVEDA THIS IS COMMONLY LINKED TO PITTA AGGRAVATION IN THE URINARY TRACT WHICH CAN HAPPEN EVEN WITHOUT INFECTION SOMETIMES DUE TO HEAT IN THE BODY DEHYDRATION STRESS OR SUBTLE IRRITATION IF YOU ARE ALREADY ON ANTIBIOTICS AND STILL FEELING BURNING IT IS IMPORTANT NOT TO IGNORE IT BECAUSE UNNECESSARY ANTIBIOTICS CAN FURTHER DISTURB GUT AND URINARY BALANCE I WOULD ADVISE INCREASING PLAIN WATER INTAKE AVOIDING SPICY SOUR FRIED FOODS CAFFEINE AND ALCOHOL AND INCLUDING COOLING FOODS LIKE COCONUT WATER BARLEY WATER AND CUCUMBER SUPPORTIVE AYURVEDIC MEDICINES THAT SOOTHE THE URINARY TRACT AND REDUCE PITTA CAN GIVE RELIEF BUT THEY SHOULD BE CHOSEN AFTER PROPER ASSESSMENT IF BURNING PERSISTS BEYOND A FEW DAYS OR WORSENS THEN URINE EXAMINATION IS IMPORTANT TO CONFIRM WHETHER INFECTION IS TRULY PRESENT SO THAT TREATMENT CAN BE CORRECTED EARLY AND COMPLICATIONS ARE AVOIDED

If the burning started less than a week ago and you are already taking Nitrofurantoin usually the burning should start reducing within forty eight to seventy two hours If you have taken it for more than two to three days and there is no improvement or the burning is the same then it is possible that either it is not a bacterial UTI or the bacteria is not sensitive to this medicine Sometimes burning can also happen due to concentrated urine dehydration mild urethral irritation vaginal dryness or fungal imbalance and in these cases antibiotics do not help and may even worsen the irritation For now make sure you are drinking plenty of water so the urine is pale yellow avoid holding urine avoid spicy food coffee excess tea and sugar till this settles From an Ayurvedic perspective this is often Pitta aggravation in the urinary tract even without infection so cooling measures help Coconut water barley water soaked coriander seeds water can soothe the burning Avoid sour fermented and very spicy food If the burning does not clearly improve within another one to two days or if it increases then a routine urine examination and culture is important before continuing or changing antibiotics Do not keep taking antibiotics blindly Also if you notice fever lower abdominal pain frequent urge to urinate or blood in urine then consult immediately

Since your symptom is < 1 week, with no other complaints, and you’re already on Nitrofurantoin 100 mg, this may be an early or mild urinary irritation, often linked to Pitta aggravation or mild infection. If the condition is persistent even after consumption of Nitrofurantoin then better to get a Urine routine alongside Urine culture done for better analysis of infection. Hoping that you are non Diabetic patient, prescribing the below prescription. For symptomatic relief: 1. Ushirasava – 15 ml with equal water, twice daily after food 2. Gokshura Churna – ½ tsp with warm water, twice daily 3. Chandraprabha vati- 1-1-1 tablet After food Home remedies alongside 1. Coriander seed water – Soak 1 tsp overnight, macerate well in morning, sip through day. 2. Consume paste of 1 Amla (Indian Gooseberry) with equal jaggery- once to twice daily. (Not advisable for Diabetes patients)
