As it seems to be an acute condition, i assume it to be a Vata-Kapha dominant one. For sore throat- 1tsp Triphala powder added to 1 glass hot water, use it for gargling If you seem to have dry cough- Then consume Sitopaladi churna 1/4tsp 4 times a day with Honey. If you seem to have too much of mucous excretion with cough- Then consume 1/4tsp of Talisadi churna with Honey 4 times a day. After consume any of these based on condition, preferably avoid consuming even water for next 30 minutes for better local action of the medicines.
