can we use multani mitti daily on face - #43493
I am really curious about using multani mitti. Lately, my skin has been acting all weird. I’ve got this oily T-zone and random breakouts that pop up outta nowhere, which is super frustrating! I've read that multani mitti is great for oily skin and helps with impurities, like dirt and excess oil, but I wonder, can we use multani mitti daily on face? I’ve tried using it a couple of times a week, mixing it with rose water, and it feels refreshing. However, I’m not sure if that’s the right approach or if it’ll dry out my skin if I use it more often. I’ve heard people saying, yeah, it’s fine for daily use, while others caution about irritation or over-drying, especially given my breakouts. I’m thinking about adding it to my daily skincare routine, but then again, I'm worried that I might be making a mistake! Also, I have sensitive skin, so any advice about that would be awesome. Really hope someone can clarify this for me! Thanks in advance!

Using Multani Mitti daily on your face isn’t typically recommend, especially for those with sensitive skin and an oily T-zone. Multani Mitti, also known as Fuller’s Earth, is indeed very effective at absorbing excess oil and removing impurities, which is why it’s an excellent choice for oily skin types. But, using it every day can cause over-drying of the skin, leading to irritation, redness, or even worsening your breakouts.
For sensitive skin types like yours, moderation is key. Use multani mitti 2 to 3 times per week to keep oiliness and breakouts in check without stressing your skin. Mixing it with rose water is a great combination as rose water has calming and anti-inflammatory properties. It can balance out the drying effects of multani mitti, which is why it’s great you’re already doing that.
When preparing your face pack, make sure to apply it evenly across your face, avoiding the delicate areas around eyes and lips. Leave it on for about 10-15 minutes, until it’s semi-dry and then gently rinse with lukewarm water. Pat your face dry with a clean towel. Follow up with a gentle moisturizer suitable for sensitive or oily skin. This help maintain your skin’s moisture balance preventing any dryness after using the pack.
For sensitive skin, always patch test any new application on your arm or a small facial area before the broader application. That way, you will know if any irritation might occur. As a rule, avoid harsh scrubs or multiple active treatments used together, as this can aggravate sensitive skin. If you find Multani Mitti is starting to cause irritation or excessive dryness, give your skin a break until it returns to its natural balance.
