Can Ayurveda improve or reverse Keratoconus in a 19-year-old with 40% blurred vision? - #54628
My relative has a condition in the left eye called Keratoconus. Their vision is about 40% blurred, and doctors are saying that recovery rates are very low. Can Ayurveda do anything to improve or reverse this condition? Also, can frequent eye rubbing damage collagen fibers and cause this? Please let me know what can be done to manage or improve it .he is just 19 years old

In Ayurveda, it can be correlated with imbalance of Vata and Pitta affecting the eye tissues (Drishti mandal). Ayurveda may help in slowing progression, improving eye nourishment, reducing strain and discomfort, but complete reversal of advanced corneal thinning is usually difficult. Yes, frequent eye rubbing can worsen keratoconus. Continuous rubbing may weaken collagen fibers of the cornea and increase progression, so it should be strictly avoided. Ayurvedic supportive care may include: Netra poshak diet – ghee, soaked almonds, amla, leafy vegetables Proper sleep and reduced screen strain Cooling eye practices under supervision Rx 1.Triphalaghrit-1tsp twice a day after meal 2. Saptamrit Lauh-2tab twice a day after meal Gentle eye therapies such as Netra Tarpana can help nourish eyes in selected cases At the same time, regular follow-up with an eye specialist is very important because modern treatments like corneal collagen cross-linking (C3R) can help stop progression in young patients. Early management gives better results, especially at 19 years of age.
