symptoms—long-term eye strain, dry eyes, and gradual increase in power (0.50 → 0.75)—are most consistent with Vata aggravation in the eyes along with dryness and digital strain (Netra Shosha / Drishti Mandagni in Ayurveda terms). This is very common with prolonged screen use and lack of eye rest. Ayurvedic understanding Main contributing factors: Excess Vata → dryness, strain, fatigue in eyes Reduced tear lubrication Continuous near-work / screen exposure Mild weakening of eye muscles due to overuse Ayurvedic care approach 1. Internal support (nourishing eyes): Triphala (supports cleansing and eye health) Amla (Amalaki) – rich in natural antioxidants for vision Ghee (small amount in diet) – nourishes eye tissues 2. External eye care: Triphala eye wash (cold infusion) – once daily (if suitable) Rose water drops (pure, preservative-free) for dryness relief Gentle eye blinking exercises 3. Lifestyle correction (most important): Follow 20-20-20 rule (every 20 min, look 20 feet away for 20 sec) Reduce continuous screen exposure Ensure proper lighting while reading Sleep at least 7–8 hours (very important for eye repair) 4. Diet support: Carrots, spinach, amla, cucumber Adequate hydration Avoid excessive dry, processed, and junk foods

Why do i have issue with my reading as i am not able to read properly for quite some time now.Secondly amla and ghee doesn’t suit me so recommend some other medicine for this

Hello, Your issue is very common today, and the good part is- it’s reversible to a good extent if managed properly What’s Happening You have -long term eye strain -dry eyes -difficulty reading -increasing power (0.50->0.75) This suggest -computer vision syndrome + dry eyes + early refractive progression Main Root cause Not taking breaks + prolonged screen/reading You mentioned= rarely take breaks This is the biggest reason for -eye strain -dryness -increasing number Internal management 1) Eye lubrication (most important) -Triphala ghrita= 1/2 tsp with warm milk at bedtime =nourishes eyes internally 2) Dry eye relief -Use preservative free lubricating eye drops (modern) Ayurveda alone is not enough for dryness External care -Triphala water wash= wash eyes once daily mild, filtered 20-20-20 Rule (game changer) -Every 20 minutes -look 20 feet away -for 20 seconds This alone can reduce 50% strain Eye exercises -palmin (rub hands, place on eyes) -blinking consciously -eye rotation Diet for eyes -ghee small amount daily -carrot, spinach -almonds soaked Hydration -drink enough water Avoid -excess screen at night -continuous reading without breaks Sleep -very important for eye recovery 7-8 hours daily Expected results -2 weeks= dryness reduces -3-4 weeks= strain improves -long term= power progression slows Important Glasses are Not harmful continue using them But -don’t expect power to go back to zero completely Your condition -digital eye strain + dry eyes Solution -reduce screen strain -lubricate eyes -follow eye routine daily Do follow Hope this might be helpful Thank you

In Ayurveda, continuous staring without blinking dries up the natural eye lubrication and deeply strains the ocular muscles and optic nerves. We must immediately cool the eyes, restore internal lubrication, and strengthen your eye muscles to stop the prescription from worsening further. ✓Ayurvedic Prescription Triphala Ghrita: Take 1 teaspoon of this medicated ghee twice a day with warm milk, 30 minutes after your lunch and dinner. This deeply lubricates the dry eyes from the inside and nourishes the optic nerve. Triphala Eye Wash (Netra Prakshalana): Soak 1 teaspoon of Triphala powder in a glass of water overnight. Strain it through a very fine, clean cloth in the morning and gently wash your open eyes with this water to clear the blurry vision. Pure Rose Water (Jalabindu): Put 2 drops of pure, medical-grade rose water in both eyes every night before sleeping to instantly cool the internal heat and relieve the severe eye strain. ✓Important Rules Mandatory Screen Breaks (20-20-20 Rule): Because you rarely take breaks, you must forcefully adopt this habit: every 20 minutes, look at an object 20 feet away for 20 seconds. This stops the eye muscles from locking up and spasming. Palming: Rub your palms together until warm, and place them gently over your closed eyes for 2 minutes whenever you feel frequent visual discomfort throughout the day. Dietary Adjustments: Add soaked almonds, fennel seeds (saunf), and at least 1-2 teaspoons of pure cow ghee to your daily diet, as these are highly clinically proven to improve eyesight. Regards Dr Gursimran Jeet Singh MD Panchakarma.

Screen hygiene -Follow the 20-20-20 rule: Every 20 minutes, look 20 feet away for 20 seconds. Also: -Blink consciously -Reduce screen brightness/glare -Keep screens slightly below eye level Reading habits -Use good lighting -Avoid reading in dim light -Increase font size -Take breaks every 30–40 minutes Warm compresses -A warm compress on closed eyelids for 5–10 minutes daily can help Diet supportive for eyes Include: Cow ghee Soaked almonds Black raisins Green leafy vegetables Mung dal Fresh homemade food Adequate hydration Reduce: Very spicy food Deep fried food Excess sour food Excess caffeine Very dry packaged foods Medication: Do netra tarpan at a nearby clinic near you. Tab. Triphala guggul 2 tabs twice a day before food Tab.Saptamrit loha vati 2 tabs twice a day before food. Syp. Pathyadi kwath 3 tsp twice a day before food
