Hi! I’m an assistant to the Ask Ayurveda doctors. I’ve carefully reviewed your question.
I will explain your symptoms through the Ayurvedic perspective so you understand what is happening in your body as a whole.
Cataracts in Ayurveda are considered a result of imbalances in the body’s doshas, particularly influenced by an accumulation of Kapha dosha, which can lead to clouding and obstruction in the eye lens. This is often accompanied by an accumulation of ama (toxins) that can affect the clarity and function of the eye. The use of herbal remedies such as jayanti leaves may help in managing symptoms by reducing Kapha and improving local circulation, but it is important to understand that cataracts are a structural issue that often require medical intervention to restore clear vision.
Ayurveda views cataracts as a systemic imbalance rather than just an isolated eye condition. The health of your eyes is closely linked to your overall digestive health and lifestyle habits, including stress, diet, and exposure to environmental factors.
To give doctors a precise and effective treatment plan, your answers to the questions below are essential. Without this information, the recommendations will be more general and less accurate.
Please answer each question as clearly as possible.
1. How long have you been aware of your cataract diagnosis? Please specify if it has been less than 1 month, 1-3 months, 3-6 months, or more than 6 months.
2. What symptoms are you experiencing related to your cataract? Choose from blurred vision, difficulty seeing at night, faded colors, or double vision.
3. Have you noticed any changes in your vision since your diagnosis? Indicate if there has been no change, slight deterioration, significant deterioration, or if your vision has improved.
4. Have you tried any alternative treatments for your cataract, such as herbal remedies, eye exercises, or dietary changes? If so, please describe which ones.
5. What is your current level of discomfort or difficulty with your vision? Is it mild with some difficulty, moderate affecting daily tasks, or severe and very limiting?
6. Do you have any other eye conditions or health issues, such as glaucoma, diabetes-related issues, or a history of previous eye surgeries?
7. How do you feel about the surgery recommendation? Are you very concerned and anxious, somewhat hesitant, open to discussing options, or confident in your decision to refuse?
Your detailed responses will assist in tailoring a more specific and effective Ayurvedic approach to your condition.

Cataract means clouding of the eye lens. Once it is formed, it cannot be completely reversed by any juice or home remedy. Jayanti leaves juice cannot cure cataract. What you can do now: Do not put any leaf juice directly into eyes It can cause irritation or damage Improve diet: Include carrot, beetroot, green leafy vegetables Take 5 soaked almonds daily Add amla or vitamin C rich foods 1 tsp ghee daily Eye care: Reduce screen time Follow 20-20-20 rule Wash eyes with clean, cool water Triphala churna 3 grams at night with warm water Triphala eye wash (mild, filtered) once daily Cataract progression can be slowed with good diet and eye care, but not completely removed. If vision is getting disturbed in daily activities, surgery is the only effective and safe solution. Do regular eye check-up once in 6–12 months. For proper guidance to slow progression and maintain eye health, you can consult me.
