Doctors' responses

Hi! I’m an assistant to the Ask Ayurveda doctors. I’ve carefully reviewed your question.

I will explain your symptoms through the Ayurvedic perspective so you understand what is happening in your body as a whole.

Cataract surgery involves a significant intervention in the eye, and post-surgery, the body is in a state of healing. In Ayurveda, the eyes are governed by the Pitta dosha, which is responsible for vision and transformation. After surgery, there can be an imbalance in the Pitta, leading to inflammation or irritation, which is why medications like prednisolone and moxifloxacin are prescribed to reduce inflammation and prevent infection.

Itone eye drops are often used for their cooling and soothing properties, which can help balance Pitta and provide relief. However, it is crucial to ensure that introducing any new substance to the eye post-surgery does not interfere with the healing process or prescribed medications.

To give doctors a precise and effective treatment plan, your answers to the questions below are essential. Without this information, the recommendations will be more general and less accurate.

Please answer each question as clearly as possible.

1. How long after your cataract surgery did you start using the current eye drops? (Options: Immediately after surgery, Within a week, More than a week, I haven’t started using them yet) 2. (Options: Clear and stable, Slightly blurred, Significantly impaired, Fluctuating) 4. Are you following any specific post-operative care instructions from your doctor? (Options: Yes, strictly following, Somewhat following, Not really following, I haven’t received any instructions) 5. Have you had any follow-up appointments since the surgery? (Options: Yes, multiple follow-ups, One follow-up, No follow-ups yet, I have an appointment scheduled) 6. How is your overall eye comfort since the surgery? (Options: Very comfortable, Some discomfort, Frequent discomfort, Painful) 7. Do you have any other eye conditions or history of eye surgeries? (Options: No other conditions, Previous eye surgery, Chronic eye condition, Other issues)

Please provide your responses so we can assist you further.

Cataract surgery ke turant baad ya jab tak allopathic drops (jaise prednisolone & moxifloxacin) chal rahe hain, tab Itone use karna generally recommend nahi hota.

Namaste, Cataract surgery ke baad jo aap currently eye drops use kar rahe hain (prednisolone aur moxifloxacin), woh bahut important hote hain healing, infection control aur inflammation kam karne ke liye. Is stage par aankh bahut sensitive hoti hai. Itone eye drops generally netra poshan aur mild conditions ke liye use kiye jaate hain, lekin surgery ke turant baad bina doctor ki permission ke use karna advisable nahi hai. Kyunki kisi bhi additional drop se irritation ya interference ho sakta hai ongoing treatment mein. Aapki vision clear hai aur aap doctor ke instructions follow kar rahe hain, yeh bahut achhi baat hai — isi ko continue rakhein. Abhi ke liye: Itone drops start na karein jab tak aapke eye surgeon specifically allow na karein. Usually 3–4 weeks baad, jab healing stable ho jati hai, tab hi koi additional drop consider kiya jata hai, wo bhi doctor ki guidance se. Aankhon ke liye kuch simple care: Dhool, dhoop aur screen exposure se bachav rakhein Aankhon ko rub na karein Proper sleep lein, kyunki healing mein help milti hai Agar halka discomfort hai, woh normal ho sakta hai initial weeks mein, lekin agar redness, pain ya watering badhta hai toh turant doctor ko batayein. Aapka current treatment sahi direction mein hai, isliye bina consult kiye kuch add karne ki zaroorat nahi hai.

Regards Dr Gursimran Jeet Singh MD Panchakarma

Aapki aankh ki surgery abhi recent hai aur is samay aankh andar se bahut nazuk healing phase me hoti hai jo drops aap use kar rahe hain jaise Prednisolone eye drops aur Moxifloxacin eye drops ye dono bilkul sahi hain aur inka kaam hai aankh ke andar ki sujan ko control karna aur kisi bhi infection se bachana isliye inko bina kisi change ke doctor ke kehne ke hisaab se chalne dijiye Ab jo aap Itone eye drops ke baare me pooch rahe hain to main aapko seedha aur imaandari se bataunga ki abhi is stage par ise shuru karna theek nahi hai chahe wo Ayurvedic hi kyon na ho kyunki surgery ke baad aankh ka internal tissue bahut sensitive hota hai aur kisi bhi extra drop se irritation ya healing me rukawat aa sakti hai aur kabhi kabhi infection ka risk bhi badh jata hai Aapka vision clear hai jo bahut achha sign hai thoda discomfort normal hai is stage par aur dheere dheere kam ho jata hai agar aapko dryness ya jalan lag rahi hai to uske liye simple lubricating drops doctor se pooch kar le sakte hain jo is phase me safe hote hain lekin bina pooche koi bhi naya drop shuru karna avoid kariye Ayurvedic drishti se bhi humesha yahi principle follow hota hai ki jab tak vrana ya internal healing poori tarah se sthir na ho tab tak kisi bhi dravya ka direct pratyaksh prayog nahi karte aankh ek bahut sukshma indriya hai isliye yahan jaldi baazi nahi karni chahiye Aap kam se kam 4 se 6 hafte ruk jaiye jab tak doctor aapke steroid aur antibiotic drops ko dheere dheere band na kar dein aur jab follow up me wo bole ki ab sab theek se heal ho gaya hai tab aap unse specifically pooch kar hi Itone shuru kariye Is beech aap apni aankhon ko aaram dijiye screen time kam rakhiye tez roshni se bachaiye thoda sa cow ghee ka sevan raat ko kar sakte hain jo netra poshan me madad karta hai aur sharir ko shant rakhta hai Abhi sabse zaruri cheez hai ki jo treatment chal raha hai usko disturb na kiya jaye kyunki aapki recovery sahi direction me ja rahi hai aur isi ko maintain karna sabse bada upchar hai

No u should not use the eye drop. You should go with your opthalmologist opinion for 1 month post surgery to avoid any post surgical complications. Keep your moxiflox and prednisolone eye drops going on and stay in touch with your opthalmic surgeon.

You should not start using Itone eye drops on your own after cataract surgery. Continue only the prescribed drops (prednisolone and moxifloxacin) unless your ophthalmologist specifically advises otherwise. Itone is an Ayurvedic/herbal formulation and is not part of standard post‑operative care. Current Standard Post‑Operative Eye Drops— - Antibiotic drops (like moxifloxacin) → prevent infection inside the eye. - Steroid drops (like prednisolone) → reduce inflammation and swelling. - These are usually continued for several weeks after surgery under strict medical supervision.

No pls follow the ophthalmologist’s advice

Currently the use of prednisolone and moxifloxacin is a standard and essential post operative protocol So don’t use any new eye drop as your report is clear and stable vision no side effect from the drop and you are strictly following medical advice you experienceing some discount for is very common during first few weeks having already attend multiple following checkups is a best way you can ensure that there is no eye pressure

Atleast 3 months ke liye after surgery you can think of using these eye drops after ayurvedic physician consultation.donot self medicate. At present you need to follow opthalmologist suggestions.
