Eye floaters are usually caused by age-related changes in the vitreous gel inside the eye, not by blockage of eye nerves or blood vessels. Floaters may become more noticeable after cataract surgery with lens replacement. Sudden increase in floaters, flashes of light, or a curtain-like shadow requires urgent examination by an ophthalmologist to rule out retinal tears. Take Saptamrita Loha – 250 mg twice daily after food with honey or ghee. Triphala Ghrita – 5 g at bedtime with warm milk. Mahatriphala Ghrita eye tarpana can be done Diet Include amla, leafy greens, carrots, pumpkin, and adequate water intake. Control diabetes, blood pressure, and avoid smoking.

Ayurveda, your condition can be understood as a Vata disturbance in the “Drishti (vision channel)” with mild drying and destabilization of the vitreous body, especially after lens replacement surgery. From a modern eye standpoint, this is still the same explanation: vitreous floaters (collagen clumps / posterior vitreous changes) becoming more noticeable after surgery due to clearer optical media. First, important clarity (very essential) Not due to: nerve blockage blood vessel blockage “toxins stuck in eye nerves” It is due to: vitreous gel changes inside the eye post-surgical optical clarity making floaters more visible mild age/surgery-related vitreous separation (common) Ayurvedic View: “Vata in Drishti Sthana” When Vata increases in the eye region, it creates: moving shadows (chal darshan) floating specks unstable visual perception Especially after surgery, eye tissues become more Vata-sensitive and dry, making floaters more noticeable. Ayurvedic Management Plan 1. Internal Nourishment (Vata calming + eye strengthening) Daily routine 1 tsp ghee (morning or with food) → improves ocular lubrication Warm water hydration throughout the day Eye-supportive herbs (gentle use) Amla (Amalaki) → powerful retinal antioxidant, improves clarity Triphala → supports detox + eye tissue balance Guduchi → stabilizes inflammation and Pitta-Vata balance These support eye tissues, but do NOT dissolve floaters directly. 2. “Drishti Strengthening” Eye Routine Daily (10 minutes total) 1. Palming therapy Rub palms → place gently over closed eyes 2–3 minutes deeply relaxes optic nerves and reduces perception of floaters 2. Eye movement exercises Slow left-right, up-down eye rotation 10 cycles improves vitreous fluid movement balance 3. Distance focusing Look at distant green objects (trees, nature) 5 minutes daily reduces brain over-focus on floaters 3. Diet for “Healthy Vitreous Body” Recommended Soaked almonds (4–6 daily) Ghee in moderate quantity Fresh fruits (amla, pomegranate, papaya) Cooked vegetables (not raw-heavy diet) Warm, moist meals Avoid (increases Vata + floaters perception) Excess coffee / tea Very dry foods (biscuits, chips, crackers) Skipping meals Excess screen exposure without breaks 4. Lifestyle for Vitreous Stability 7–8 hours deep sleep (very important for eye repair cycles) 20-20-20 rule for screens Avoid rubbing eyes strongly Protect eyes from dry wind / AC exposure Key Ayurvedic Principle for You “When Vata stabilizes, perception of floaters reduces even if floaters remain physically present.” This is important: Floaters may not fully disappear But brain adaptation + Vata pacification reduces awareness significantly Modern reality (important reassurance) Since: no flashes no vision loss stable condition after surgery This is most likely benign vitreous floaters (non-dangerous) However, continue regular eye check-ups.

••From an Ayurvedic perspective, eye floaters and degenerative changes in the vitreous body are primarily classified under Drishtigata Roga (diseases affecting the vision) and are often linked to a vitiation of Vata Dosha, specifically Prana Vayu and Vyan Vayu, combined with an undercurrent of Pitta Dosha ••How to Reduce Floaters and Maintain a Good Vitreous Body? The goal here is two-fold: Vata-Samana (calming the degenerative, drying nature of Vata) and Rasayana Chikitsa (rejuvenation of ocular tissues) to slow down vitreous liquefaction (vitreous syneresis). Internal Ayurvedic Therapeutics (Rasayana & Chakshushya) ••Triphala Ghrita: This is arguably the most potent formulation for degenerative eye conditions. Taking 1 teaspoon of medicated Triphala Ghrita with warm milk or warm water on an empty stomach early in the morning acts as a powerful Chakshushya (eye tonic). The healthy fats in Ghrita nourish the vitreous body and counter the dryness of Vata. ••Saptamrit Lauh: A classical formulation containing Yashtimadhu (Licorice), Triphala, and Lauha Bhasma. When taken with honey and ghee, it improves microcirculation to the retina and strengthens the visual apparatus. ••Amalaki Rasayana: Emblica officinalis is highly rich in vitamin C and antioxidants. It preserves the collagen structure of the vitreous humor and prevents further oxidative degeneration. External Ocular Therapies (Kriya Kalpa) ••Akshi Tarpana (Highly Recommended): Since you have undergone lens replacement in 2024, your eye is structurally stable now (2 years post-op). Under proper clinical supervision, undergoing a course of Akshi Tarpana using Triphala Ghrita or Jeevaniya Ghrita will be immensely beneficial. A reservoir of warm medicated ghee is built around the eyes, allowing the lipid-soluble active ingredients to deeply nourish the intraocular structures, lubricate the vitreous, and pacify Vata. ••Aschiyotana (Eye Drops): Using mild, cooling, and nourishing herbal eye drops (like those containing Rose water, Amalaki, or specific classical Drishti drops without harsh burning bases) helps maintain ocular moisture. Diet & Lifestyle Upgrades ••Vata-Pacifying Diet: Incorporate naturally sweet, sour, and salty foods. Ensure your diet includes healthy fats like A2 cow’s ghee, soaked almonds, and walnuts to prevent systemic tissue dryness. ••Hydration: The vitreous body is mostly water. Dehydration makes floaters clump together more prominently. Ensure optimal daily water intake. ••Netra Vyayama (Gentle Eye Exercises): Slowly moving your eyes in a figure-eight pattern, clockwise, and counter-clockwise helps improve intraocular fluid circulation. Avoid rapid, jerky movements. ••Palming: Rub your palms together until warm and gently place them over your closed eyes for 2 minutes to soothe the optic nerve.
