How to treat sleepiness caused by Aswagandha while managing tinnitus in my left ear? - #55698
Dr I am suffering from Tinnitus in left ear. Dr suggested Aswakandha plain chooranam night time only. I have taken only 6 days , but I feel sleepness. What should I do? Shall I continue or not.

In Ayurveda, Ashwagandha is a “Madhura–Snigdha” herb with strong calming and sedative (Nidrajanana) effect, so daytime sleepiness can occur in sensitive individuals. Why this is happening: Excess Kapha increase → heaviness, drowsiness during day Strong sedative action on nervous system (Vata calming) → relaxation turning into sleepiness Dose sensitivity or timing effect (night dose can carry over next day) For tinnitus (Karna Nada): Ashwagandha is actually beneficial, but balance is important. What you should do: If sleepiness is mild → continue but reduce dose (half quantity) If sleepiness is disturbing daily routine → stop for 2–3 days and reassess Take it strictly after food at night, not on empty stomach Add light warm water intake in morning Avoid daytime sleeping Mild stimulation like walking helps reduce Kapha heaviness For tinnitus support: Better results come when Ashwagandha is balanced with Vata-pacifying but light herbs (like Brahmi or Shankhpushpi ) If sleepiness persists even after dose adjustment, the medicine may need replacement or combination correction, not discontinuation alone.
