Ayurvedic medicines usually take some time to show results, especially for stress and anxiety. Since you have been taking the medicine for less than 1 week, it may be too early to judge the effect. In many cases, improvement can start within 2–4 weeks, depending on: —Your body constitution (prakriti) —Severity of stress/anxiety —Diet and lifestyle —Sleep quality —Regularity of medicine --------However, if you are having moderate side effects, you should contact your doctor again. The medicine or dosage may need adjustment. Along with medicine, try to follow: -Proper sleep -Light, healthy diet -Daily breathing exercises/pranayam -Reducing caffeine and late-night screen time If symptoms become severe or affect daily life significantly, consulting a health professional is also important.

In Ayurveda, the time taken for medicine to show effect is not immediate like modern painkillers. It works by gradually correcting the body’s internal balance (Dosha harmony, Agni, and nervous system strength). For stress and anxiety conditions, the general timeline is: 1–7 days: Body begins adjusting to the medicine. Some people may feel mild changes (sleep, digestion, mood shifts), but often results are not clearly noticeable yet. 2–4 weeks: Early improvement in symptoms like better sleep, slightly calmer mind, reduced restlessness. 4–8 weeks: Noticeable and stable reduction in anxiety, improved emotional control and mental clarity. 8–12 weeks: Strong, deeper and more sustained effect if medicine + lifestyle are consistent. Since you are taking it for less than 1 week, it is still very early to judge effectiveness. However, one important point: You mentioned moderate side effects. In Ayurveda, that means the medicine or dosage may not be fully suitable for your body type (Prakriti) or digestion strength (Agni). This should be re-evaluated by your Ayurvedic doctor soon—do not ignore it. For better and faster results: Take medicines regularly as prescribed Follow a calm routine (sleep on time, avoid overthinking triggers) Reduce tea/coffee, screen overload, and late-night activity Practice 10–15 minutes of deep breathing or meditation daily

The short answer is: Ayurveda is not slow by nature, but it works differently than modern medicine. ••Acute Illnesses (1 to 7 Days): For sudden issues like acute fever, seasonal cough, cold, or mild digestive upset, proper Ayurvedic formulations (like Kwaths, Vatis, or Churnas) can show results within hours or a few days. ••Chronic Conditions (2 to 6 Weeks): For long-standing issues like joint pain (Amavata or Sandhivata), metabolic disorders, skin issues, or chronic gastric issues, it typically takes 2 to 4 weeks to notice visible, sustainable improvements. ••Deep-Rooted Diseases (3 to 6 Months+): If a disease has been in the body for years, the tissues (Dhatus) require deep purification (Panchakarma) and rejuvenation (Rasayana), which takes several months of disciplined treatment. 2. Why is it taking time for you? (Key Factors) •If your medicine isn’t working yet, we need to look at these vital Ayurvedic principles: A. The Concept of Agni (Digestive Fire) In Ayurveda, if your Agni (digestion) is weak or if there is Ama (toxins/undigested food particles) blocked in your body channels (Srotas), the medicine cannot be absorbed properly. If the medicine isn’t absorbed, it won’t work. We often need to give Deepana and Pachana (digestive fire-igniting) medicines before the main treatment works. ••Pathya-Apathya (Diet and Lifestyle Restrictions):- If you are taking medicine for a gastric or inflammatory issue but still consuming incompatible foods (Viruddha Ahara), oily, heavy, or stale food, the medicine’s effect will be canceled out. C. Anupana (The Vehicle/Carrier) How are you taking your medicine? In Ayurveda, the medium used to swallow the medicine (warm water, milk, honey, ginger juice) is called Anupana. It acts as a catalyst. Taking the medicine with the wrong medium or at the wrong time (e.g., after meals instead of before meals) drastically reduces its efficacy.
