In Ayurveda, it is highly valued for pacifying Vata and Kapha, and modern science confirms its leukotriene-inhibiting properties. ••​Will it help? Yes, it can help reduce localized inflammation around the nerve pathway. ••​The Caveat: Do not rub or massage it vigorously. Trigeminal Neuralgia pathways are incredibly sensitive. Aggressive rubbing or friction can act as a trigger, exciting the nerve and bringing on a painful episode. Instead, gently smear or apply a thin layer over the affected area without putting pressure on the trigger zones. ••​External Ayurvedic Recommendations (No Tablets) ​Since oral administration is restricted right now, we must focus strictly on targeted local treatments (Sthanika Chikitsa) to calm the hyper-excited Vata nerve endings. ​1. Warm Local Applications (Lepa) ​Instead of a cold or standard cream, a warm herbal paste can profoundly pacify Vata: ••​Dashamanga Lepa / Ksheerabala application: If you can procure Ksheerabala Thailam or Mahanarayana Thailam, gently apply a few drops warmed to room temperature onto the face with a cotton ball. This stabilizes the local nerves. •••​Crucial Care Tips During a Chest Infection ••​Avoid Cold Triggers: Ensure the water you drink for your chest infection is lukewarm. Avoid cold drafts, fans blowing directly onto your face, or washing your face with cold water, as cold is the primary quality of Vata and a massive trigger for TN. ••​Protect the Face: Keep your face and neck loosely wrapped in a warm scarf, especially when coughing, as the sudden muscle spasms from coughing can trigger a nerve flare-up
