Hi Ravi,

Will try, Thank you

Hello Lakshmi I understand your concern,. Since your little one is only 1 year old and has been experiencing eczema along with food allergies since infancy, this requires personalized medical attention.

Eczema in babies can have multiple causes—immune system sensitivity, gut health, environmental triggers, or genetic predisposition. Because your child is very young and still developing, it is not advisable to prescribe medication without proper medical supervision.

👉 I strongly recommend that you take a personal consultation so that we can access

✅Assess your child’s history, food allergies, and triggers.

✅Suggest safe and age-appropriate internal and external medicines.

✅Guide you on diet, skin care, and lifestyle practices to reduce flare-ups.

For your child’s age and condition, a personal consultation is essential. Please book a perosnal consulation for safe, customized treatment.

Wishing your child a good health😊

Warm Regards Dr Snehal Vidhate

Eczema in infants can be quite distressing, and it’s crucial to approach it holistically. In Ayurveda, we often look at such skin conditions as a manifestation of imbalances in the body’s doshas, particularly Pitta and Kapha. While you manage food allergies, which is essential, there are additional steps you might consider within the Ayurvedic framework.

First, diet plays a pivotal role. Ensure that foods are Pitta-pacifying; these include cool, soothing foods like ghee, coconut water, and sweet fruits like pears and apples. Avoid hot, spicy, and fermented foods, which can aggravate Pitta. Even certain vegetables like tomatoes and eggplants might need to be limited.

Topically, applying soothing oils like coconut or neem can provide relief. Coconut oil acts as a natural moisturizer and has cooling properties that are beneficial for Pitta-induced skin issues. You can gently apply it after bath time to help with dryness and irritation.

In terms of lifestyle, ensure that materials that come in contact with the skin, like clothing and bed linens, are soft and made from natural fibers. Avoid synthetic materials that can irritate the skin further.

It’s also important to keep your child’s environment dust-free, as dust can exacerbate eczema symptoms. Using a humidifier in dry climates or seasons can help maintain skin moisture.

Hydrating adequately and practicing a gentle routine with regular application of natural moisturizers is key. Overt bathing should be avoided as it strips the skin of natural oils.

However, severe cases of eczema, especially in infants, should ideally be managed with professional guidance. Consulting a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner or dermatologist who can assess the condition in detail is crucial. Online consultations could be a convenient option if in-person visits aren’t feasible. This approach will ensure that a tailored treatment plan is developed, specific to your child’s constitution and current symptoms. For immediate or severe concerns, seeking medical advice is essential to prevent secondary infections or complications.

HELLO LAKSHMI,

Eczema, called “Kushtha” in Ayurveda, is a skin disorder where the skin becomes dry, red, itchy, inflamed or develops rashes. In infants -often appears in the first few months like your baby , from 2 month old -may be associated with food allergies, which can worsen the skin condition -can be chronic if not managed properly -may flare up due to heat, infection, dryness, or certain foods

HOW AYURVEDA EXPLAINS IT -this skin is affected mainly by Pitta dosha (causing redness and inflammation) and vata dosha (causing dryness and itching) -sometimes Kapha dosha contributes when there is thick oozing or chronic discharge

SYMPTOMS YOU MAY NOTICE -red, dry, flaky patches -itching, sometimes leading to scratches -ozzing or crusting in severe cases -sensitive skin reaction to certain foods

TREATMENT GOALS -Soothing inflamamtion= reduces redness, swelling, and itching -Healing skin= restore moisture, reduces dryness, prevent infection -detoxification and digestion support= improve immunity and prevent flare ups -balancing doshas= mainly pitta and vata in the skin -preventing recurrence= through diet, lifestyle and gentle care

INTERNAL MANAGEMENT CANT BE GIVEN TO 2 MONTH OLD

FOR BREASTFEEDING MOTHERS -maternal diet influences eczema in babies . Avoid :- spicy, oily, processed, or acidic foods -include cooling foods like cucumber, coconut water, rice and mild dals -mother can take pitta pacifying herbs like aloe vera juice, amalaki, or guduchi

EXTERNAL MANAGEMENT

SAFE AYURVEDIC OILS -Coconut oil=soothing, moisturising, prevents dryness -karanja oil= mild anti inflammatory and antibacterial; -mahamarichyadi taila= for more severe dryness small amounts, applied gently

APPLICATION METHOD -warm the oil slightly -gently massage the affected area 1-2 times a day -avoid over oiling if there is oozing -mild herbal bat=lukewarm water with neem or guduchi decoction

OTHER CARE TIP -avoid soaps or harsh chemicals -keep skin clean and dry -use cotton clothing and avoid wool or synthetic fabrics -trim nails to prevent scratching

LIFESTYLE MEASURES AT HOME -keep the baby in cool, airy environment, avoid heat and sweating -short baths, lukewarm water oil, avoid hot water -avoid allergens in environment : dust, pet dander, strong perfumes -use humidifier if air is dry

GENTLE MASSAGE= helps in relaxation and moisture -use small amount of oil on whole body daily or 3-4 times a week

DIET FOR BABY 1 YEAR OLD -avoid foods causing allergy milk, egs, nuts, wheat, depending on test -offers rice porridge, moong dal soup, boiled vegetables, masghed fruits -ensure adequate hydration

FOR BREASTFEEDING MOTHER -AVOID= spicy, sour, deep fried foods -include= cooling, light, non allergenic foods -maintain regular meals for digestive balance

DO FOLLOW

HOPE THIS MIGHT BE HELPFUL

THANK YOU

Eczema in young children can be challenging and it’s understandable to be searching for effective solutions. In the framework of Siddha-Ayurvedic medicine, eczema often involves an imbalance in the doshas, primarily pitta and vata, which govern inflammation and dryness respectively. Addressing this requires both internal and external treatments.

One crucial aspect is diet. Since you mentioned food allergies, it’s important to focus on food that’s easy on digestion and cooling in nature to calm pitta. Avoid spicy, fried, and excessively salty foods. Incorporate more skin-soothing foods like ghee, coconut water, and lentils. Preferably, use well-cooked meals and opt for barley, rice, and mung beans.

Externally, applying coconut oil or sesame oil mixed with a little turmeric may help soothe the skin. These oils pacify vata and add moisture, while turmeric reduces inflammation. Regularly bathe your child with lukewarm water, avoiding hot water, which can aggravate eczema.

Furthermore, maintaining proper hydration, ensuring an adequate amount of rest, and protecting your child’s delicate skin from extreme weather can also be supportive. A simple homemade paste of neem and aloe vera can be applied on the skin; the antibacterial property of neem and the cooling effect of aloe vera can alleviate symptoms.

For precise diagnosis and treatment, consulting an Ayurvedic practitioner online could be a viable option. Ensure they’re experienced with pediatric cases and discuss her complete medical history and allergies in detail. If the eczema is severe or if your child is showing signs of distress, it’s crucial to seek immediate medical attention to rule out infections or more serious conditions. It’s about finding a balance in her doshas, diet, lifestyle, and the right treatments.
