how to remove heat from the body - #38447

Dylan

I am really struggling with this heat in my body lately. It feels like I’m constantly running a fever or something! This all started after I went on a long trip to a really hot place and since then my body just feels outta whack. I’ve been getting these weird rashes too, especially on my arms and legs. Every time I try to cool down, like drinking water or taking a shower, it helps for a bit but then I'm back to feeling this heat again. I looked up some things online about how to remove heat from the body, but nothing really seems to work for me. The doc didn’t find anything major during my checkup, but I'm still worried. It might be stress, but who knows? I’ve also noticed I have this strange craving for cooling foods, like cucumbers and melons, but I really don’t know what’s causing this. Is it just the summer weather? Or is it something else? I mean, how to remove heat from the body really? Are there any Ayurvedic remedies or specific foods that could help cool me down? I wanna feel normal again! Any tips or ideas you all have would be super helpful!

Experiencing excessive heat in the body, especially with rashes, can indeed be dyscomforting. According to Ayurveda, this condition might be linked to an imbalance in Pitta dosha, which governs heat and metabolism in the body. Trip to a hot place along with emotional stress may have aggravated your Pitta, causing these symptoms. Let’s explore a few effective Ayurvedic approaches to bring balance back.

Firstly, try incorporating Pitta-pacifying foods into your diet. Foods with sweet, bitter, and astringent tastes are particularly beneficial. Include more cucumbers, watermelon, and leafy greens. Coconut water is especially cooling and hydrating — drink a glass a day, preferably mid-morning to ensure you stay hydrated without overconsuming.

Introduce herbs like Aloe Vera and Guduchi, which are known for their cooling properties. Aloe Vera can be consumed as juice, 30 ml in the morning on an empty stomach. Guduchi can be taken as a supplement, following the package instructions or advice from a qualified practitioner.

Cooling spices can also play a role. Coriander, fennel, and cardamom can be added while cooking. Consider drinking fennel tea - steep a teaspoon of fennel seeds in hot water and strain before consuming.

Ayurveda also values lifestyle adjustments. Practice Shitali or Sheetkari Pranayama for cooling effects. It involves breathing through a rolled tongue or teeth, which can be both refreshing and calming.

Finally, avoid fiery activities. Reduce intake of spicy foods, caffeine, alcohol, and smoking as these can aggravate the heat. Spend time in a cool, relaxing environment and practice calming activities such as yoga or meditation.

If your symptoms persist, consult with ayurvedic physician for personalized assessment. Nourish your body from within and allow temperatures to gradually balance with these thoughtful lifestyle and diet strategies.

Managing excess heat in the body can be linked to imbalances in the pitta dosha, which is responsible for heat and metabolism. From an Ayurvedic perspective, your symptoms like the rashes and craving for cooling foods indicate that your body is trying to balance out this heat. Here’s how you might address it:

1. Diet Adjustments: Incorporate more cooling foods into your meals. Emphasize foods with sweet, bitter, and astringent tastes, as these can help pacify pitta. Foods like cucumbers, melons, zucchini, and ripe, sweet fruits like pears and pomegranates are excellent choices. Avoid spicy, sour, salty foods, as they can exacerbate heat.

2. Hydration: Ensure you’re drinking plenty of fluid, but also consider herbal infusions like coriander seed water. Soak a teaspoon of coriander seeds overnight in a glass of water, and drink it the next morning. This can help reduce internal heat.

3. Coconut Oil: Applying a thin layer of coconut oil on your skin after showering can provide a cooling effect and help with the rashes. This oil has natural pitta-pacifying properties.

4. Herbal Support: Consider taking herbs that support cooling your system, such as neem or manjistha. These herbs can help cleanse the blood and support healthy skin function.

5. Routine Changes: Introduce practices such as yoga and meditation into your daily routine to help manage stress and further balance pitta. Even just a few minutes of deep breathing exercises can help keep the internal temperature under control.

6. Avoid Overheating: Wear loose, light-colored clothing, and avoid peak sun hours. Also, ensure your living space is ventilated properly.

Since your symptoms have persisted, consulting an Ayurvedic practitioner in person might give you more tailored guidance. If at any point symptoms worsen or new issues arise, it is wise to consult a healthcare professional promptly.
