Your grandson’s ADHD symptoms, combined with his energy levels, can be a challenge. In Ayurveda, we often see such conditions linked to Vata dosha imbalances, which can manifest as restlessness and short attention spans. His past with seizures adds complexity, but since he’s doing better with CBD oil, we can focus on balancing his energy and improving his focus naturally.

Start by incorporating a consistent daily routine, as Vata types benefit from regularity. Ensure he has regular meals at the same times each day to stabilize his metabolism and energy levels. His breakfast should be warm and grounding, like oatmeal made with whole grains, adding ghee and a pinch of cinnamon for taste and grounding effect.

Include warm, cooked meals throughout the day. Foods like lentil soups, boiled vegetables, and rice with khichdi can be beneficial. Minimize raw foods, carbonated drinks, and sugary snacks as they could further imbalance Vata. Hydration is essential, so encourage sipping warm water throughout the day to maintain his digestive fire, or agni.

Consider grounding activities like yoga or tai chi specifically designed for kids. The focus in these practices aids in extending his attention span. Adjusting his exercise routine to include more mindfulness-focused activities might help channel his energy constructively.

For his evening foot pain, apply a warm sesame oil massage to his feet before bedtime. Sesame oil is calming for vata imbalances. You can soak a piece of cloth in warm water, wring it out, add a few drops of essential oil like lavender, and wrap his feet for added relief.

His sister’s problems with bronchitis may also benefit from strengthening her immune system. For her, golden milk—a mix of warm milk (or almond milk if there’s lactose intolerance) with turmeric—can help build immunity.

These recommendations can aid in finding a natural balance. However, continued professional supervision is crucial, especially considering past medical conditions and when making any significant changes to treatments.
