In Ayurveda, a baby’s sleep is governed by Vata (nervous system) and Kapha (natural sleep) balance. Night waking at this age is common, but we can gently improve the circadian rhythm (Dinacharya). 1. Fix a Consistent Routine Keep same sleep time (8–9 pm) daily Wake-up time also fixed → helps body clock settle 2. Early & Light Dinner Prefer easy-to-digest foods (khichdi, dal, soft rice) Poor digestion (Agni imbalance) can disturb sleep 3. Gentle Oil Massage (Abhyanga) Daily warm sesame or coconut oil massage before bath or sleep Calms Vata, improves deeper sleep 4. Calm Bedtime Environment Dim lights, no screen, soft lullaby Avoid overstimulation before sleep 5. Support Digestion If gas/bloating suspected → a pinch of hing water (only if suitable) Keep meals warm, fresh, not heavy 6. Daytime Balance Adequate play in sunlight

Hello A 19-month-old baby waking at night is common and not always abnormal. Their Circadian Rhythm is still maturing and depends on routine. Keep a fixed wake-up and bedtime daily to regulate sleep. Give morning sunlight exposure to strengthen the body clock. Limit naps to one daytime nap and avoid late naps. Follow a calm, consistent bedtime routine every night. Digestion can affect sleep if dinner is heavy or too late. Keep dinner light, early, and easy to digest. Watch for signs like gas, discomfort, or irritability at night. If these signs signs r not present then no need to worry u can Thank you

Hello. Do not worry. sometimes it is normal for babies to wake at night. As he grows it will tend to get better. You can definately make some changes in your routine. 1. Try to have a fixed routine- meal time, play time and nap time should be scheduled and fixed. 2. Make sure the baby is well fed at night and is not waking up de to hunger. 3. If the child is bloated, colicky or gassy you can apply hing powder in the abdomen. 4. full body massage is a must. it should be a daily routine before bath.

At 19 months, waking 2–3 times at night is quite common, but it can be improved with routine and digestion support. Yes, sometimes mild digestion discomfort or gas can disturb sleep, especially if dinner is heavy or late. Keep a very consistent routine: Same sleep time daily, dim lights after sunset, no active play or screens before bed. Your current routine is good, just keep timing fixed. Dinner should be light and early (by 7–7:30 pm). Avoid heavy, fried, or sugary foods at night. Before sleep: A gentle tummy massage with warm oil and a warm bath can help relax the body and improve sleep. During night waking, keep lights low and interaction minimal so baby learns to settle back. Daytime: Ensure enough play and sunlight exposure — this helps circadian rhythm naturally. No strong medicines required If needed: A small pinch of hing (asafoetida) paste around navel (external) for gas relief This usually improves sleep gradually over 1–2 weeks with consistency. Regards, Dr Raghuveer (Ayurvedacharya)

Setting the carcadian rhythm is a slow and eventual process. Making the baby sleep early by 15 minutes every 3-4 days will help him make a habit of sleepng early at night and waking up at night. Make the room completly dark, no mobile or TV or laptops. Use soothing music and stories for baby to sleep. I baby has too much digestion issue add hing (asefoetida) in his meals. Digesion will improe. For a 19 months old baby, learning is from what he sees around him. If people around the baby will sleep early the baby will also get habitual to it.

1. Support Digestion (The Gut-Sleep Connection) Yes, digestion can absolutely bother a baby’s sleep. If he is occasionally fussy when waking, it could be gas or bloating. Early & Light Dinner: Serve dinner by 7:00 PM or 7:30 PM. Focus on warm, easy-to-digest foods like khichdi, soft rice, or dal. Avoid heavy, fried, or sugary foods at night. Hing (Asafoetida) Relief: If you suspect gas, apply a small amount of Hing water or paste around his navel (externally) before bed. Check for Hunger: Ensure he is well-fed during the day so he isn’t waking up purely out of hunger. 2. Strengthen the Circadian Rhythm To help his internal clock settle, consistency is the most important factor. Morning Sunlight: Exposure to natural sunlight in the morning helps set the body’s internal clock for the day. Consistent Bedtime: Aim for a fixed bedtime between 8:00 PM and 9:00 PM. Follow the same sequence (bath, story, sleep) every single night. Dark & Calm Environment: Keep the room completely dark and avoid all screens (TV/phones) at least an hour before bed. 3. Calming the Nervous System (Vata Balance) Daily Massage (Abhyanga): A daily full-body massage with warm Sesame or Coconut Oil before his bath can significantly calm the nervous system and promote deeper sleep. Minimal Interaction at Night: When he wakes up, keep the lights low and interaction very minimal. This teaches him that nighttime is for sleeping, not playing or engagement. 4. Daytime Activity Ensure he has enough physical play during the day to expend energy. Try to limit him to one consistent daytime nap and avoid letting him nap too late in the afternoon, which can interfere with nighttime sleep.

Hello, At 19 months, waking 2-3 times at night is common, but since it’s ongoing Likely causes in Ayurveda -Vata imbalance= disturbed sleep cycle -Immature digestion= discomfort at night -Irregular circadian rhythm Yes- digestion can definitely be a cause Treatment goals -improve sleep rhythm -calm nervous system -support digestion -reduce night awakening Internal 1) Digestion support -Balamritam= 5 drops twice daily with warm water =helps colic, digestion and calmness 2) Gentle immunity + calmness -Dadimaavaleha= 1/4 tsp Most important= night routine Works best then medicine Evening routine (key to circadian) Fixed timing daily -dinner by 7-7:30 pm -lights dim fter 8 pm Oil massae= use Bala taila -apply on feet, legs, lower back Calms vata-> deeper sleep Sleep setup -warm bath before bed -quiet, dim room -no screens/bright lights Feeding tips (very important) Night waking often linked to food Keep dinner -light -easy to digest (khichdi, dal rice) Avoid -heavy foods -sugar before bed -overfeeding at night Sleep training (gentle) -put baby to bed drowsy but awake -avoid full dependency on rocking/feeding Natural sleep practices -gentle lullaby -consistent bedtime -same sleep environment daily Expected timeline -1-2 weeks= reduced awakenings -3-4 weeks= stable sleep cycle When to watch closely -persistent crying at night -signs of pain (arching back, gas) -poor weight gain This is very common and reversible Focus more on -routine+ digestion + calming practices -> medicines are supportive, not primary Do follow Hope this might be helpful Thank you

Hello, At 19 months, sleep disruptions are often tied to “Rajasic” (active) energy, where the mind is overstimulated, or “Vata” imbalances that cause restlessness. Ayurvedic Perspective on Sleep & Digestion : In Ayurveda, sleep (Nidra) is a pillar of health. If your child’s digestion (Agni) is weak, it creates Ama (toxins) and gas, which often peak during the Pitta time of night (10 PM – 2 AM), causing them to wake up. Sunlight Exposure: Ensure the baby gets direct morning sunlight to set the internal clock. Abhyanga (Massage): A gentle foot and scalp massage with Balaswagandhadi Thailam before bed grounds “Vata” and induces deep sleep. Early Dinner: Feed the last meal at least 2 hours before bedtime so the body isn’t working on heavy digestion while trying to sleep. 1. For Sleep and Nervous System Calming: Saraswatharishtam: This is a traditional fermented tonic that calms the mind and improves sleep quality. Dose: 3 ml to 5 ml mixed with an equal amount of lukewarm water, twice daily after food. 2. For Digestive Support (if gas/bloating is suspected): Dadimasthaka Churnam: Effective if the child has a “heavy” stomach or irregular bowel movements. Dose: A small pinch (approx. 500 mg to 1 g) mixed with a teaspoon of honey or warm water, 30 minutes before dinner. 3. External Application: Ksheerabala Thailam: Applying a few drops to the crown of the head and soles of the feet helps soothe the nervous system.
