-In Ayurveda, this condition may fall under “Vata imbalance”, particularly in “Majja Dhatu” (nervous system) and “Rasa Dhatu” (nutrition/fluids). Symptoms like stroke aftereffects, muscle rigidity, jaw clenching, poor appetite, and confusion indicate aggravated Vata. -you should Consult an Ayurvedic doctor who is experienced in post-stroke care—they can tailor internal medicines and external therapies safely. - I Am at this time recommending you only external care , for internal consult with expert opinion for this- 1)Abhyanga (Full Body Oil Massage) Oil: Sesame oil or Brahmi oil Method: Gently massage entire body with slow, circular movements; avoid vigorous pressure Frequency: Once daily or every other day Benefits: Reduces Vata stiffness, improves circulation, provides comfort 2)Shiro Abhyanga (Head Massage) Oil: Brahmi or Mahanarayan oil Method: Apply a few drops on the scalp; massage gently for 5–10 minutes Frequency: Once daily Benefits: Calms mind, reduces confusion, supports nervous system 3)Warm Compress / Steam Therapy Area: Jaw and neck muscles Method: Use a warm cloth or gentle steam for 5–10 minutes Frequency: Daily, as tolerated Benefits: Helps relax jaw clenching and reduces muscle stiffness 4)Foot & Hand Massage (Optional) Oil: Sesame oil Method: Gentle massage of palms and soles Frequency: Daily or every other day Benefits: Calms Vata, improves circulation, promotes relaxation -Important Notes: Perform massage slowly and gently; avoid any pain or strain. Maintain a quiet, warm, and comfortable environment during therapies. -------Consult with ayurveda specialist for post stroke management for best results as I told in starting.

Hello I feel for you and your family. Seeing your mom like this must be really tough. But dont worry we are here to help you out 😊 YOUR CONCERN –Patient: Female –Age: 78 –History: • Had a stroke 5 years ago • Been getting treatment since –Now: • Not eating • Clenching her teeth • Being fed through a tube • Sometimes confused • No better in the last 1–6 months AYURVEDA VIEW In Ayurveda, a stroke is called Pakshaghata It’s a Vata thing that hits the: • Brain • Nerves • Muscles • Swallowing • Awareness Over time, this can cause: • Dry nerves • Weak jaw • No hunger • Can’t swallow well • Confusion The teeth clenching means: 👉 Vata is high which makes the nervous system tight. CAN AYURVEDA HELP NOW? Let’s be real. At 78, with: • Stroke damage for 5 years • Tube feeding • Locked jaw • Not fully aware Ayurveda can’t fix the brain damage. But it CAN: • Loosen things up • Make her comfy • Relax her jaw & muscles • Help her sleep • Make her life better • Maybe help her swallow Aim is comfort and respect, not a total fix. AYURVEDIC TREATMENT PLAN 1.Brahmi Ghrit → ¼ teaspoon once a day Helps the brain and calms nerves 2 Ashwagandha Ghrit → ¼ teaspoon at night Eases stiff muscles 3 &Shankhpushpi Syrup* → 1 tsp twice a day Sharpens the mind (All can go through the feeding tube) EXTERNAL THERAPY (Key part) Daily, gently: • Head massage with Brahmi oil • Jaw massage with sesame oil • Foot massage This chills out Vata and helps with the clenching. 🧘 Position & Care • Keep her head up a bit • Change her position every 2 hours • Move her arms and legs gently • Soft music or chants can help her brain Your mom’s got a long-term nerve issue. Ayurveda can’t undo the stroke, but it can: –Make her feel better –Calm her down –Relax her muscles –Make her more comfortable That’s a kind of healing too. You’re a loving kid – don’t feel like you can’t do anything. Even small comforts are a big deal now. Warm Regards Dr. Snehal Vidhate

✔️ Do’s: ✔️ Millet roti Buttermilk (daily include in your meal) Moong dal (green and yellow both are ok) All fruit vegetables Leafy vegetables (except methi and dil) ❌ Donot’s: ❌ Tea Coffee Dals (except moong) Sour Packed food Processed food Achar (pickles) Papad Fried food Avoid dairy completely Non veg products 💊Medication💊 External treatment will be helpful. After she starts eating solid food you can introduce internal medication. Body abhyanga (massage) with luke warm sesame seed oil. Head massage with lukewarm bhrami oil. Packs of dashmool kadha (soak a cloth in the kadha and place it on her lower abdomen.) If you can, give her 1 tsp of SYP. DASHMOOLARISHTA diluted in 3 tsp of warm water twice a day just 5 minutes before her meal. NO OTHER INTERNAL MEDICINE IS ADVISABLE

Internal (limited, since oral intake restricted) - Agar food pipe se hi feeding ho rahi hai, to oral Ayurvedic medicines dena unsafe hai. - Is stage par internal medicines avoid karna behtar hai, jab tak doctor specifically approve na kare. External Therapies - Abhyanga (oil massage): Daily gentle massage with Mahanarayan taila or Dhanwantaram taila → improves circulation, reduces stiffness. - Mridu Swedana (mild fomentation): Warm towel compress on limbs → prevents contractures. - Shiro Abhyanga (head oil massage): With Brahmi taila → calming effect, reduces agitation. - Passive physiotherapy: Gentle limb movements to prevent bed sores and stiffness. Diet & Feeding Support - Food pipe feeding should be light, easily digestible, semi‑liquid (moong dal water, rice water, vegetable clear soup). - Avoid heavy, oily, spicy foods. - Add small amounts of ghee for nourishment if tolerated. ✅ Dos and Don’ts Dos: - Gentle daily massage and physiotherapy. - Keep patient comfortable, prevent bed sores. - Maintain hygiene around food pipe. - Regular neurologist follow‑up. Don’ts: - Do not give oral Ayurvedic powders or tablets without medical clearance. - Avoid strong detox or purgative therapies. - Don’t expect complete reversal at this stage—focus on comfort and stability. ADV: Consult with a nearby Panchkarma Specialist for better management.

Ayurveda can offer strong supportive care – but cannot reverse stroke damage or replace tube feeding/neurological treatment. Goal: Reduce stiffness (teeth clenching), improve swallowing reflex (if possible), prevent aspiration pneumonia, reduce confusion, maintain nutrition & comfort. ✓Immediate Priorities Continue tube feeding & physiotherapy (swallowing exercises very important). Consult neurologist/ENT/swallow specialist urgently , check for aspiration risk & possible PEG vs NG tube decision. If teeth clenching severe , dentist/neurologist for possible botox or muscle relaxant (short-term). ✓Ayurvedic Supportive Plan (very gentle – start after neurologist approval) Medicines Brahmi Ghrita – 5 gm morning with warm water (best brain nourisher, reduces confusion & stiffness) Shankhpushpi Syrup – 10 ml twice daily (calms mind, improves clarity) Maha Narayana Taila – gentle full-body massage daily 10–15 min (reduces body stiffness & improves circulation) Ashwagandha Lehyam – 5 gm night with warm milk (very low dose – builds strength & reduces fatigue) Nasya (most powerful for brain & swallowing) Warm Anu Taila or Brahmi Ghrita – 2 drops each nostril morning (stimulates brain & cranial nerves, helps swallowing reflex in stroke patients) ✓Daily Care Passive physiotherapy + gentle neck/shoulder massage Mouth & tongue exercises (if possible) – speech therapist guidance Warm water sip via tube (keeps hydrated) Keep head elevated 30–45° during/after feeds (prevents aspiration) Important Do NOT stop allopathic/neurological treatment – Ayurveda is only supportive. ✓Focus on preventing complications (pneumonia, bedsores, contractures) & comfort. Discuss goals of care with family/neurologist – comfort vs aggressive intervention. Regards Dr Gursimran Jeet Singh MD Panchakarma

HELLO, In Ayurveda, this condition is usually described as Pakshaghata/ vatavyadhi (neurological disorder caused by aggravated Vata dosha) SYMPTOMS LIKE -inability to swallow -jaw clenching -confusion -long term immobility Indicate deep seated vata imbalance with dhatu depletion CAN AYURVEDA CURE THIS? -Ayurveda cannot reverse old brain damage caused by a stroke after 5 years -complete recovery of swallowing or consciousness is unlikely at this stage HOWEVER, AYURVEDA MAY HELP IN -improving comfort and quality of life -reducing stiffness and jaw clenching -supporting digestion and tube feeding tolerance -calmin agitation and confusion -preventing further deterioration EXTERNAL THERAPIES 1) OIL MASSAGE= KSHEERBALA TAILA 2) SHIRODHARA- helps with confusion, restlessness, and sleep -Gentle jaw and facial oil application may reduce clenching over time Avoid aggressive panchakarma at this age 3) NASYA= mild pratimarsha Nasya with Anu taila 2-3 drops daily in each nostril morning empty stomach =may help neurological pathways and swallowing reflex slightly DIET AND TUBE FEEDING SUPPORT Ayurveda focuses on easy digestion -warm, thin, well strained feeds -avoid cold, heavy, mucus forming foods -Add small amounts of –ghee is tolerated –dashmool decoction very diluted PRACTICAL AND ETHICAL GUIDANCE -focus should be comfort care, not aggressive cure claims -combine modern medical care + gentle ayurvedic support -Avoid anyone promising complete recovery - this is not realistic Ayurveda can be used as supportive, palliative care, not as a replacement of her current treatment DO FOLLOW HOPE THIS MIGHT BE HELPFUL THANK YOU DR. MAITRI ACHARYA
