Namaste, Episodes of sudden excessive sleep or almost fainting for a whole day, especially at age 72, should be taken seriously, even if reports are normal so far. Simple understanding: This can be related to temporary brain circulation changes, nervous system imbalance, or metabolic fluctuations. Sometimes conditions like mini transient episodes (like TIA), sleep disorders, or nervous fatigue may not show clearly in basic tests. Since he becomes normal the next day, it suggests a functional or episodic issue, but still needs careful monitoring. Simple measures that may help: Keep a record of episodes (time, duration, triggers). Ensure regular meals and hydration, avoid long gaps. Maintain proper sleep routine (fixed timing). Avoid sudden exertion or dehydration. Monitor BP, sugar, and pulse during episodes if possible. Do not leave him alone during such episodes. Important: Consult a neurologist or physician again, possibly for detailed evaluation (like EEG, sleep study, or repeat assessment), as this should not be ignored. Ayurvedic medicines that may support nervous system stability include: Brahmi Capsules – 1 capsule, after breakfast Ashwagandharishtam – 15 ml with equal water, after dinner These are traditionally used to support nervous system strength and stability, but should be started only after medical evaluation. Consult me for more advice and suggestions on the above medicines.

Major cause could be dehydration due to the scorching summer episodes. Keep a watch on hydration. To check that the easiest way is to see if his lips and his pallet are not dry. Give oral hydration with fruits as whole, coconut water, ORS if required. Avoid tea and coffee. Prefer liquid diet over solid forms. Include buttermilk and ghee in diet. Medications Soak DURVA grass in hot water for half an hour. Extract the juice from durva and give 2 tsp. Kushmand Avleham 2 tsp in the morning with a cup of COW milk

Hello, This symptoms in.a 72 year old should Not be considered just old age sleep Episodes of -sleeping almost the whole day -appearing faint like -then suddenly normal next day Need careful medical evaluation even if -blood test normal -brain scan normal Possible causes (important) These episodes can happen due to -mini circulation changes in brain (TIA) -sleep disorders -hidden seizures -low oxygen during sleep -heart rhythm problems -medication side effects -electrolyte flucutation -early neurological disorders -severe fatigue/nervous exhaustion in elderly A normal CT/MRI alone may miss some causes What should be checked next Please consult -neurologist -preferably also cardiologist Ask about -EEG -sleep study -ECG/holter monitoring -vitamin B12, thyroid, sodium levels Ayurveda can help improve -brain circulation -nervous system stability -daytime alertness -sleep quality rhythm But first rule out serious causes above Internal medications 1) Brahmi vati gold= 1 tab at bedtime =supports brain function , helps mental clarity 2) Ashwagandha lehyam= 1 tsp at night with milk -improves nervous strength, reduces fatigue episodes 3) Kalyanaka ghrita= 1/4 tsp morning with warm milk =classical rejuvneation for elderly nervous system support Diet -small frequent meals -good hydration -protein intake adequate Avoid -heavy daytime meals -excess sugar -long fasting gaps Lifestyle -fixed sleep timing -gentle walking daily -morning sunlight exposure Since episodes are recurrent for 2 months, further evaluation is important even though initial scans are normal Ayurveda can support recovery and vitality But underlying neurological/ cardiac causes should not be missed Do follow Hope this might be helpful Thank you
