I am a 63 yr old woman with chronic stress. I am a business owner and I am told by many I don't look my age and I usually don't feel it until the past year. I am constantly stressed, and my body reacts so quickly to every incident in a state of nervousness. For the past 10 years, my business and the people I employed have drained me. Now I am seeing the results. My hair is falling out. I have gained weight, 20 lbs. I have been a juicer for 17 years. My willingness to make juice has diminished. Anxiety is horrible. I never had anxiety, and now I can't get rid of it. Also, I have high blood pressure, but it's not from the diet. I don't eat red meat, but I occasionally do; it's just too heavy. My diet has always consisted of vegetables, fruit, chicken and seafood. Cakes, cookies, and candy have always irritated my stomach. Really bad pains. I read that ashwagandha, amla, and shatavari will be great for lowering cortisol levels. Is this true? If so, how should I take it?

From an Ayurveda perspective, your symptoms suggest long-term aggravation of Vata from chronic stress and overwork, with possible involvement of Pitta. When the nervous system stays overstimulated for years, it can lead to anxiety, disturbed sleep, hair fall, weight changes, and high blood pressure. —Rx: 1) Ashwagandhadi lehyam– 1 tsf BD after meals 2) Aimil Amlycure DS – 2 tsp BD after meals 3) Shatavari Cap – 1 cap at bed time with warm milk 4) Brahmi Vati – 1 tab at night 5) neelinibhringadi oil for hairs Local application twice a week —Diet & Lifestyle Advice: Warm freshly cooked meals Avoid excessive caffeine, late nights, and mental overexertion Daily walking + pranayama (Anulom Vilom, Bhramari) Oil massage (Abhyanga) with sesame oil 3x/week Early sleep before 10:30 pm Follow-up: —Review after 4 weeks with BP, sleep, anxiety, and hair fall assessment.

Chronic stress for many years can aggravate Vata and Pitta dosha in Ayurveda. This often leads to anxiety, disturbed sleep, hair fall, weight gain, cravings, high blood pressure, and nervous exhaustion — even in people who otherwise eat healthy and stay active. Your symptoms suggest mental and adrenal burnout rather than weakness alone. The good news is that Ayurveda focuses on calming the nervous system, nourishing the mind, and rebuilding strength gradually. Helpful Ayurvedic Herbs 1. Ashwagandha Very useful for chronic stress, anxiety, cortisol balance, nervous tension, and fatigue. Take Ashwagandha powder 1/2 tsp or 500 mg capsule With warm milk or warm water Preferably at night after dinner It may also support sleep, blood pressure balance, and emotional stability. 2. Amla Excellent for hair fall, stress-related heat, immunity, and healthy aging. Take 1 tsp Amla powder in the morning Or fresh amla juice with water It nourishes hair roots and supports digestion gently. 3. Shatavari Helpful when stress causes dryness, emotional sensitivity, irritability, or hormonal imbalance. Take 1/2 tsp at bedtime With warm milk It has a calming and nourishing effect on the nervous system. Simple Daily Routine (Very Important) Wake up early and avoid checking business messages immediately Drink warm water in the morning instead of cold juices daily Do 10–15 minutes deep breathing or meditation Gentle walking, yoga, or stretching daily Oil massage on feet and scalp with warm sesame or bhringraj oil 3 times weekly Reduce excessive stimulants, late-night work, and mental overthinking Diet Advice Your diet is already quite healthy, but during chronic stress the body needs more grounding foods.

Hello, What you are describing is very consistent with. a long term stress exhaustion pattern in Ayurveda- a mix of -chronic vata aggravation (nervous system overactivation) -pitta burnout (high drive/responsibility) -gradual ojas depletion (hairfall, anxiety, weight changes , emotional fatigue) The fact that -you stayed highly functional for years -your body now reacts instantly to stress -anxiety appeared later in life -sleep is becoming lighter -hair is falling -cravings are increasing Suggests your nervous system has been in a prolonged “survival mode” state for many years About Ashwagandha, Amla, and Shatavari Yes these herbs are commonly used in Ayurveda to help regulate stress physiology and support resilience Each has a different role Ashwagandha best for -nervous system exhaustion -anxiety -stress reactivity -cortisol regulation -muscle tension This is probably the Most important herb for your case Amla best for -pitta balance -inflammation -hair support -healthy aging -gentle adrenal support Also supports digestion without overheating Shatavari best for -emotional depletion -dryness -hormonal stability -nervous system nourishment especially useful in women with chronic stress depletion Simple and safe starting Morning Amla -1 cap or 1 tsp powder in warm water after breakfast Evening or at bedtime -Ashwagandha = 500 mg cap after dinner or before bed =helps calm nighttime stress activation After 2 weeks -Shatavari= 1 cap at bedtime with warm milk =especialy if anxiety feels wired but depleted, dryness, emotional exhaustion, sleep disruption Important blood pressure Note Ashwagandha is usually well tolerated, but -monitor blood pressure regularly -especially if already on Bp medication because stress reduction may gradually affect readings Your digestion gives important clues You mentioned -cakes/cookies/candy cause severe stomach pain This often suggest -sensitive digestion -gut inflammation/reactivity -impaired metabolic flexibility Your body likely does better with -whole foods -warm cooked meals -stable blood sugar Than with stimulants/sugat About juicing After many years, excessive raw juicing can sometimes -increase vata -reduce digestive warmth -weaken grounding Especially after age 60 You may now benefit more from -soups -lightly cooked vegetables -stewed fruits -warm nourishing meals Instead of large amount of cold/raw juices Most important therapy for you Not medicine Nervous system recovery Your body has likely become conditioned to -hyper alertness -constant responsibility -emotional vigilance So even small stressors now triger full body activation Daily nervous system reset very important 1) Warm oil foot massage at night= sesame oil =surprisingly effective for vata anxiety 2) Slow breathing practice 5-10 min -long exhale breathing -no intense breathwork 3) Earlier dinner + reduced nighttime stimulation This is extremely important for cortisol rhythm Hairfall + weight gain together This combination is common in -chronic stress hormone dysregulation -sleep disruption -nervous system fatigue ->not simply aging What imporvement usually looks like First -less body alarm response -calmer morning -improved sleep continuity Then -reduced anxiety intensity -less hairfall -more stable appetite/craving Usually gradually over -12 weeks Your body does not sound weak It sounds -overextended for too long You maintained performance through stress for years and now your nervous system is demanding recovery Ayurveda of often very helpful here because the goal is not sedation-it is -restoring resilience -calming hyper reactivity -rebuilding ojas gradually and gently Do follow Hope this might be helpful Thank you

Hello dear, your health issue shows vata imbalance in body. You can easily manage thorough little diet and lifestyle changes. Try to fix your diet and sleep timing. Avoid excess tea/coffee and on the epmpty stomach. Try to do gentle stretching exercise or yoga for 30 minimum in morning. Do massage your body with seasame oil or chandan bala lakshadi oil whichever suits you before exercise or yoga. And if not possible whole body then do foot massage at night before sleep. It will definitely helps in calming your mind. Try to eat warm, freshly prepared home based food. Avoid late night dinner, late night awakening and excessive travelling, hungry for longer duration- all these will aggravate your vata . If any digestive problems resolve it because gut imbalances directly affects your brain and overall health. Try to take pure a2 cow ghee 1-2 spoon per day in your meal. Don’t do self medication or take supplements blindly it will only worsen your condition if it’s not for you. If you want to take help of Ayurvedic medicine, i think you should take consultation of Ayurvedic doctor because there are very important factors or points to look after that. Take care.

Your symptoms and conditions is due to imbalance of bata and pitta The herb which you mentioned like Ashwagandha Amla and shatavri are excellent Rasayan that help to manage cortisol and nourish the Nervous System 👇👇👇👇👇👇👇 1) Ashwagandha churna- 1 tsp twice daily With warm milk and water 2) Shatavari churna- 1 tsp twice daily 3) amla juice - 5 ml daily 4) brahmi vati - 1 tab at bedtime 5) sarpgandha vati- 1 tab twice daily With warm water after meal- (don’t take if you are already taking high blood pressure medicine) 👇👇👇👇👇👇👇 Favor: Warm, cooked, and easily digestible foods. Include healthy fats like Ghee to ground the Vata dosha. Avoid: Highly processed sugars (cakes/cookies), as you noted they cause stomach pain.
