It is very normal for this experience when age is 80+. Drink Lukewarm water. Chew an inch of ginger before food Avoid heavy food. Start with dal and rice or dal khichadi and slowly slowly increase the food quantity and slowly slowly shift to carbs and proteins. Donot overeat. Avoid processed food. Medication Chavanprash Avleham 1 tsp in the morning. Syp. Amrutarishtam 2 tsp twice a day after food.

Namaste, After fever and cold, especially at the age of 80+, it is common to feel low energy and loss of appetite for some time as the body is recovering. Simple measures that may help: Give light, warm, and easily digestible food like khichdi, soups, and dal rice. Offer small, frequent meals instead of heavy meals. Ensure adequate fluids like warm water, herbal teas, or thin buttermilk. Add mild spices like ginger, cumin, and black pepper in food to support digestion. Allow proper rest and gradual activity, do not force exertion. If weakness or appetite loss persists beyond 1–2 weeks or worsens, it is better to consult a doctor for evaluation. Ayurvedic medicines sometimes used to support recovery and energy include: Chyawanprash – traditionally used to support strength and immunity. Drakshasava – sometimes used to help improve appetite and energy. Consult me for more advice and suggestions on the above medicines.

Weakness and loss of appetite after fever and cold usually happen because Agni (digestive fire) becomes weak and Kapha-Vata imbalance remains in the body after illness. Ayurveda focuses on restoring Agni, improving digestion, and gradually rebuilding strength. 1. Ayurvedic Medicines (15 days) Chitrakadi Vati Dose: 1 tablet twice daily after meals with lukewarm water. Benefit: Improves Agni (digestion), stimulates appetite, and reduces Ama (toxins). Laxmi Vilas Ras Dose: 1 tablet twice daily after meals with honey or warm water for 15 days. Benefit: Helps in recovery after fever, cold, and respiratory weakness, improves strength and vitality. (Medicines should preferably be taken under guidance of an Ayurvedic physician, especially in elderly patients.) 2. Diet Guidelines Since appetite is low, food should be light, warm, and easy to digest. Recommended foods Moong dal khichdi with a little ghee Vegetable soups (bottle gourd, carrot, pumpkin) Rice gruel (kanji/manda) in the initial days Warm herbal water (boiled with ginger or cumin) Stewed apple or ripe papaya in small quantities Foods to avoid Cold foods and drinks Fried, oily, and heavy foods Curd at night Packaged or processed food 3. Lifestyle Guidelines Encourage adequate rest and sleep to help recovery. Drink small sips of warm water throughout the day. Gentle short walks inside the house once energy improves. Keep the body warm and protected from cold wind. Light abhyanga (oil massage) with warm sesame oil can help reduce weakness and improve circulation. 4. Simple Home Support A pinch of dry ginger powder with honey once daily can help improve appetite. Tulsi-ginger warm herbal tea may help clear residual cold and improve energy. If weakness, fever, breathlessness, or loss of appetite continues beyond 1–2 weeks, they should consult a physician to rule out any underlying condition.

HELLO, In Ayurveda , this condition is a classical example of vata-kapha imbalance post fever -INITIAL STAGE (fever/cold)= the ama (toxins/undigested matter ) and vitiated Kapha Dosha accumulated in the respiratory tract causing cold and fever -CURRENT STAGE (no appetite)= The fever has subsided but the digestive fire has becomes extremely weak. The ama created during the fever has now started to circulate and block the subtle channels of the body This leads to heaviness, tastelessness, loss of appetite, and loss of strength Because they are In their 80s , their tissues are naturally weaker making recovery slower TREATMENT GOALS -Deepan-pachan= kiddle the digestive fire and digest the remaining ama -BALYA= gentle nourishment to restore strength without increasing ama INTERNAL MEDICATIONS PHASE 1= DEEPAN PACHAN First 5 days 1) TRIKATU CHURNA= 1gm mixed with little honey twice daily before meals =acts as a deep metabolic stimulant. It digests ama and relieves kapha blockages 2) SITOPALADI CHURNA= 3gm mixed with 1 tsp honey twice daily after meals =excellent post febrile tonic for the respiratory system. It improves appetite and relieves residual cough or congestion 3) HIGWASTAKA CHURNA= 1gm with warm water before meals = removes vata disturbances in the digestive tract PHASE 2= AFTER APPETITE RETURNS Focus on gentle rejuvenaton 1) CHYAWANPRASHA= 1 tsp twice daily after meals with warm milk = ultimate geriatric tonic . It nourishes all seven dhatus , improves immunity and restores energy 2) ASHWAGADHA CHURNA= 1/2 tsp with warm milk at bedtime =rejuvenates the muscles and nervous system ,directly combating listlessness DIET PLAN The diet must be warm, light, liquid and oily to counter vata dryness and kapha heaviness -RICE GRUEL= the water from cooked rice . season with a pinch of rock salt and ginger juice. This is the ideal food for the first few days -KHICHDI= add a little ghee after cooking -SOUPS= vegetabe soup with ginger and black pepper or warm moong dal soup -WARM MILK= small quantities of warm warm milk with a pinch of turmeric or nutmeg at night, provided it does not worsen congestion AVOID STRICTLY -Absoutely No cold drinks, refrigerated food, fruits straight from the fridge -avoid heavy sweets, pastries, deep fried items. af ledtvers -avoid raw salads ad curd, especially at night LIFESTYLE ADVICE -COMPLETE REST =The body repairs itself during sleep.Encourage them to rest and take short naps if needed -GENTLE WARMTH= ensure they are warm avoid ac or fans directly blowing. Gentle massage of the feet and hands with warm sesame oil will soothe vata and improve circulation INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED -CBC -Blood sugar levels HYDRATION CHECK= ensure they are passing urine at least 4-5 times a day and the color is pale yellow to clear. If urine is dark or infrequent , they are dehydrated and need ORS or medical attention DO FOLLOW HOPE THIS MIGHHT BE HELPFUL THANK YOU
