Dear new mom It is understandable that you want to protect your baby during a measles outbreak. However, for a baby who is only 1 month and 20 days old, please keep the following in mind: A newborn’s skin is very thin and sensitive. Neem is very strong and can cause severe dryness, rashes, or irritation. It will not prevent a measles infection through a bath. Prevention: The most effective protection for measles is the vaccine (usually given at 9 months) and keeping the baby away from crowded places or anyone who is sick. Protection : Instead of a bath, you can keep the environment clean. You may hang fresh, clean Neem leaves near the cradle or use mild Dhoopana (herbal incense) like Guggulu to purify the air. Continue exclusive breastfeeding, as this is the best way to build your baby’s natural immunity If your baby develops a fever, cough, or any redness in the eyes, please consult a pediatrician immediately. Do not try home remedies for an infant this young Wishing your baby good health. Take care
Baby of less than 2 months skin is very sensitive and can cause allergy so be very carefull about using the neem water. You can simple soak handfull of neem leaves in hot water leave it for an hour and dilute with normal bathing water. Check for rask allergy or dry skin Measles protection: 1. Avoid exposure. Keep baby away from: Sick individuals, crowded places and visitors with fever, cough, rash 2. Hygiene & environment -Wash hands before touching the baby -Clean frequently touched surfaces -Ensure good ventilation 3.Breastfeeding -Continue exclusive breastfeeding as it provides maternal antibodies that help protect baby.
