Brittle nails with splitting and layering usually indicate weak nourishment, dryness, and sometimes deficiency related to digestion or skin health. Stress and irregular nutrition can also contribute. Keep nails short for some time and avoid excessive water, detergents, and harsh soaps on hands. Use gloves while washing utensils or cleaning. At home: Massage nails and cuticle area daily with coconut oil or almond oil at night. You can also apply a little ghee on nails before sleep for dryness. Diet: Include sesame seeds, soaked almonds, leafy vegetables, ghee, milk, and protein-rich foods regularly. Reduce junk and packaged food. Amla tablet – 1 tablet twice daily Gandhak rasayan – 1 tablet twice daily after food Calcium + Vitamin D support (if not already taking) once daily This helps strengthen nails, improve growth, and reduce cracking gradually. Improvement usually takes a few months because nails grow slowly. Regards, Dr Raghuveer (Ayurvedacharya)
