how to cure delayed periods - #25606

Lucas

I am really worried about my health. I’ve been experiencing delayed periods for almost two months now, and this just isn't like me at all. Usually, my cycle is regular like clockwork! Last year, I was under a lot of stress due to exams, and I know that might have affected my cycle then, but this time it feels way different. I’ve also had some weird cravings and bloating, which added to my confusion. I've taken a couple of pregnancy tests, but they all came out negative, phew! Still, I’m lost here and really want to know how to cure delayed periods. I've been reading about natural remedies and Ayurveda, and I wonder if there's something specific I can do to bring back my cycle. Could it be that my lifestyle choices — like not eating enough or too much stress — are messing with my periods? I just don't know, and I’m getting anxious about it. What can I do? What are some Ayurvedic solutions or herbs that could help me figure out how to cure delayed periods? Any personal experiences, please? Thanks!

Delayed periods can be unsettling, especially when they deviate from your usual pattern. Ayurveda indeed offers insights and remedies that can help address this issue by bringing balance to your body. The root cause often stems from an imbalance in Vata dosha, so calming and balancing Vata is essential. Stress and dietary habits can substantially exert their influence on this balance.

First, pay attention to your diet. Ayurveda suggests eating warm, cooked meals as they are easier on the digestive fire (agni). Include plenty of naturally sweet, sour, and salty tastes to ground the Vata dosha. Foods like sweet potatoes, warm milk with a pinch of saffron, and ghee can be especially nourishing.

Herbs also play a crucial role. Ashwagandha is a fantastic adaptogen known for reducing stress. It helps regulate hormones as well. Shatavari, which is another beneficial herb, supports female reproductive health and can help normalize your cycle. You could take these in powdered form: mix a teaspoon with warm milk before bed.

Balancing lifestyle practices are important too. Try including yoga and pranayama like Nadi Shodhana or Anulom Vilom to soothe the nervous system and improve circulation in the pelvic area. Adequate sleep and regular routine also help pacify Vata. Oil self-massage (abhyanga) with warm sesame oil before a shower can greatly promote circulation and reduce stress.

Since you’ve faced stress from exams before, your body’s now might be more sensitive to stressors like lack of sufficient nutrition or sleep. Reflect on any recent changes in lifestyle, diary patterns or emotional states.

However, if periods continue to delay, do consult an Ayurvedic practitioner or a healthcare professional, as it might require a more personalized assessment. While most times Ayurveda can gently coax your cycle back to normal, sometimes further investigation is necessary to rule out underlying conditions.
