Recurring yeast infections can be quite troublesome, and addressing the root cause through Ayurveda could offer lasting relief. The itching around the thighs may be linked to imbalances in the Pitta and Kapha doshas. It’s essential to restore balance through diet and lifestyle adjustments.
First, consider incorporating more cooling, anti-inflammatory foods into your diet, such as cucumber, melon, and aloe vera juice. These help to pacify Pitta. Avoid hot, spicy, and oily foods that can aggravate this dosha. To address Kapha, it’s beneficial to steer clear of sugar and yeast-heavy foods, as they can contribute to fungal growth.
For immediate relief of itching, applying a paste made from neem powder and water can soothe the skin due to its antifungal properties. You may also try warm sitz baths with a decoction of triphala to cleanse and provide external comfort.
In terms of lifestyle, prioritize wearing loose, breathable clothing made of natural fibers to prevent moisture build-up that may aggravate your condition. Maintain good hygiene, but avoid harsh soaps and douches, which can disrupt the natural balance of delicate areas.
Support your digestion by consuming Triphala daily at bedtime, which aids detoxification and supports healthy bowel movements. Ginger tea or cumin-coriander-fennel tea before meals can stimulate the digestive fire, Agni, and detoxify the body.
Lastly, consider incorporating herbal supplements such as Guduchi or Ashwagandha, which help strengthen the immune system and create a more resilient system. These should be taken as per the guidance of an ayurvedic practitioner, especially if you’re already on medication.
If symptoms rapidly worsen or persist, consider consulting with a healthcare professional for further assistance, as chronic conditions might need additional investigation. Addressing the underlying imbalance with the guidance of a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner can be a prudent approach to achieve sustained well-being.
A recurring yeast infection and constant itching around the thighs indicates an imbalance, possibly involving your pitta dosha and agni (digestive fire). This condition might suggest an over proliferation of yeast due to increased heat and moisture, which yeast thrives in. Consider these tailored Siddha-Ayurvedic recommendations to help restore balance:
First, incorporate cooling and astringent herbs into your routine to reduce pitta, which can alleviate the itching. Use neem powder or paste topically on the affected areas 2-3 times a day for its antifungal and soothing properties. You can also mix neem paste with a bit of turmeric, known for its anti-inflammatory effects.
Internally, take Triphala churna—half a teaspoon with warm water at night. Its polyherbal formulation aids in balancing the doshas and detoxifying the system. Moreover, consuming 1/4 teaspoon of reetha (soapnut) powder mixed in water twice a day might help due to its natural antifungal properties.
Focus on your diet as well. Reduce intake of pitta-aggravating foods like spicy, sour, and overly salty items, instead favoring more cooling foods like cucumber, coconut, and bitter gourd. Make sure to drink adequate water and herbal teas like mint or coriander to keep your body hydrated and cool.
Practicing regular oil pulling with coconut oil can be beneficial too. It can aid in maintaining oral hygiene and balancing internal pH levels, thus indirectly affecting overall yeast levels.
If the symptoms persist even after a week, or if you experience severe discomfort or additional symptoms, immediately consult a healthcare professional for further assessment and treatment. An integrated approach may be necessary to address stubborn infections.
HELLO JOYCE,
A yeast infection happens when a type of fungus called candida grows too much in the vaginal area It’s normally present in small amounts- but when the body’s natural balance changes, it multiplies, causing itching, irritation, and sometimes a thick white discharge
Recurrent yeast infection If it occurs 4 or more times a year, it’s called recurrent. This usually means something is disturbing the internal balance- such as immunity, hormones, or local hygiene
In Ayurveda, this condition is linked to Yonivyapad particularly kapahaja or kapha vata -Kapha dosha represents heaviness, moisture and stickiness -when kapha increases due to sweet foods, dampness, lack of hygiene, or low digestion, it creates ama (toxin) and leads to overgrowth of yeast like organism -vata dosha may also get aggravated, causing itching, dryness and irritation
So, Ayurveda aims to remove Ama balacne kapha and vata, and strengthen immunity
