In Ayurveda, polycystic kidney disease (PKD) is often related to an imbalance in the Vata and Kapha doshas, which can affect kidney function and lead to complications like high blood pressure. Since you have experienced a stroke as well, it is essential to focus on treatments that help restore balance, improve kidney function, and support the circulatory system. A holistic approach would include dietary adjustments (favoring warm, easily digestible foods), herbs like Gokshura and Punarnava to support kidney health, and lifestyle changes to reduce stress and manage blood pressure. Additionally, Panchakarma detox therapies can help cleanse toxins and balance your doshas. It is crucial to work closely with an Ayurvedic practitioner to customize your treatment plan and monitor your progress regularly, especially given the severity of your condition. Always consult your healthcare provider when integrating Ayurvedic treatments with conventional care.

Poly cystic kidney disease (PKD) can be quite tricky; it’s in the genes, you know, something that’s often inherited. It’s primarily a genetic disorder where clusters of cysts develop in the kidneys, causing them to enlarge and loose function over time. It’s understandable how you’re also dealing with high blood pressure and had a brain stroke. These complications often walk hand in hand with PKD.

From an Ayurvedic perspective, this condition might be related to imbalances in the Pitta and Kapha doshas, influencing the rakta (blood) and mutravaha srotas (urinary channels). Our goal would be to balance these doshas, protect the kidneys and manage symptoms like hypertension.

So, let’s talk some specifics, try incorporating Trikatu (a blend of ginger, black pepper, and long pepper) to enhance digestive fire and improve metabolism. Take with honey, just a small amount after meals. It’s spicy but great for balancing Kapha. Also, Gokshura (Tribulus terrestris) is known for supporting kidney function and maintaining urination flow, definitely look into that, maybe as a supplement. Check with a practitioner for the right dose though.

Diet-wise, emphasize foods that don’t burden the kidneys: lots of fresh fruits and veggies, but light on heavy proteins and processed foods. Hydration is critical, but don’t go overboard if renal function is limited. Gentle exercises like yoga or walking can help keep blood pressure in check.

And speaking of blood pressure, consider Brahmi for calming the mind, it can be taken as a tonic or tea. It may help with mental clarity too. Remember, these are complementary, not substitutes for your main medications.

Keep close tabs with your allopathic doctor on this. Ayurveda can do wonders, but you’ve got to stay safe and informed. Regular check-ups are a must. This isn’t a condition to take lightly, blended care often works best in such cases. Take care, and remember you’re doing the best you can.
