डॉक्टरों की प्रतिक्रियाएं

Important Reality Check True burrowing mites in the scalp for several months is very uncommon. The main human burrowing mite is scabies (Sarcoptes scabiei). Key facts about scabies: Causes intense itching (especially at night) Burrows are usually on hands, wrists, waist, genitals In adults, scalp involvement is rare It does NOT stay untreated for months without spreading severely If you had active scabies for months: Other areas of your body would be involved Close contacts would likely have symptoms What Is More Likely When dermatologists and infectious disease doctors say they do not see parasites, and this has been going on for months, common possibilities include: Seborrheic dermatitis Scalp folliculitis Contact dermatitis Chronic inflammation Neuropathic itch Delusional parasitosis (very real distress, but no parasite present) I am not dismissing your experience. The sensation of crawling/burrowing can feel extremely real even when no organism is present. Red Flag Question Have doctors: Done skin scrapings? Looked under dermatoscope? Found actual mites or eggs? If they have not found organisms after months, active infestation becomes very unlikely. If It Were Scabies Standard treatment would be: Permethrin 5% cream neck down (8–12 hours, repeat in 7 days) Or oral ivermectin (2 doses, 7 days apart) If those didn’t work — true scabies becomes unlikely. Important Medical Concern Persistent belief of scalp parasites for months despite no medical evidence is often associated with: Delusional parasitosis (Ekbom syndrome) This is: A real psychiatric condition Not “crazy” Caused by brain chemistry Very treatable It causes: Crawling sensations Belief of larvae Severe frustration Feeling doctors aren’t listening Treatment often involves: Low-dose antipsychotic (e.g., risperidone) Or addressing anxiety/depression And symptoms improve significantly. I Need To Ask Gently Have any doctors mentioned: “No organisms seen” “No evidence of infestation” Suggested psychiatric evaluation? If yes, that is not dismissal — that may actually be the correct direction.
