Ever since I started breastfeeding my newborn, I’ve been dealing with a lot of discomfort in my breasts. At first, it was just soreness, which I thought was normal, but after a few weeks, I noticed sharp pain while nursing. Then I saw that the skin around my nipples had become dry, red, and there were tiny cuts forming. I didn’t know if this was normal, so I searched online for what do cracked nipples look like, and I realized that what I’m experiencing matches exactly—dryness, slight bleeding, and peeling skin around the nipple. It’s getting to the point where breastfeeding is painful, and I’m scared that if it gets worse, I might not be able to continue nursing my baby. The doctor recommended some ointments, but I’m hesitant to use chemicals since my baby is feeding directly from my breasts. I want something more natural and safe.
