End-stage kidney disease is challenging to reverse, but Ayurveda focuses on supporting kidney function, reducing creatinine and urea levels, and managing symptoms. Drug’s like Punarnava, Gokshura, Varunadi Kwath, and Chandraprabha Vati are traditionally used to promote kidney health and reduce water retention. Strict diet control is essential—reduce high-protein, salty, and processed foods, and stay hydrated with warm herbal infusions like coriander or barley water. Gout and heart disease further complicate kidney function, so managing uric acid levels with Giloy and Amla may help. Since your eyes are swollen and body pain is persistent, consult an Ayurvedic expert for personalized medicines and detox therapies like Virechana or Basti to balance Vata and Pitta. Regular kidney function tests (KFT) are necessary to track progress. Kindly consult an experienced Ayurvedic kidney specialist with all recent investigations (Creatinine, Urea, Electrolytes, KFT, and Urine reports) for a more accurate diagnosis and personalized treatment plan.

Namaste,

I understand your concerns about kidney failure, high creatinine and urea levels, as well as your symptoms like body pain and muscle discomfort. Ayurveda offers supportive treatments that may help slow disease progression, manage symptoms, and improve overall kidney health, but reversing end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) completely is challenging. Just wanted to know how much was last creatinine levels?? And is dialysis is started?? N if dialysis is ON there will be fluid restrictions,so take accordingly Meanwhile you can start

1.Tab.Gokshuradhi punarnava 1 tab thrice daily (After food) 2.Chandraprabha Vati:1 tab twice daily 3.Tab. Vrikkadosha hara vati 1 Tab twice daily Continue allopathic medicines and keep atleast 1 hour gap between allopathic and ayurvedic medicines Avoid: High-protein foods, dairy, red meat, processed foods, and excessive salt. Include: Light meals, moong dal, barley water, fresh fruits like apple and papaya,

Yoga & Pranayama: Gentle breathing exercises like Anulom Vilom Warm oil massage with Dhanwantharam Tailam can help relieve muscle pain. Rock salt warm water soaks may help with joint pain relief.

I’m sorry to hear about the challenges you’re facing with kidney disease and the related symptoms. I would need more information about your medical history, such as your recent kidney function tests (creatinine, urea, GFR), any imaging or biopsies related to your kidneys, and the specifics of your gout and heart disease treatments. Are you currently on any medications for kidney disease or other conditions? Also, understanding your diet, lifestyle, and any habits that might be affecting kidney function (such as fluid intake or salt consumption) would be important for devising a more comprehensive treatment approach.

From an Ayurvedic perspective, kidney disease is often seen as an imbalance in Vata (which governs the elimination of waste) and Pitta (which is responsible for metabolic functions). While end-stage kidney disease is often challenging to reverse fully, Ayurveda can support kidney function and help manage the symptoms. Herbs like Punarnava and Gokshura are known to support kidney health by reducing fluid retention and improving renal function. Giloy (Guduchi) is beneficial for boosting immunity and detoxifying the body. Triphala can aid in detoxifying the kidneys, while Shatavari may help reduce inflammation. Panchakarma therapies, such as Basti (therapeutic enemas) and Abhyanga (oil massage), may help to balance the doshas and support detoxification.

Home remedies - Incorporating the right fruits into your diet can help support kidney function and overall health.

Apples: High in fibre and vitamin C, apples help support kidney health and overall wellness. Berries (Blueberries, Strawberries, Raspberries): Packed with antioxidants that protect kidneys and reduce inflammation. Grapes: Low in potassium and rich in antioxidants, grapes help maintain kidney function. Pineapple: A low-potassium fruit that aids in detoxification and supports kidney health with its high vitamin C content. Papaya: Contains antioxidants and vitamin C to reduce kidney inflammation and improve function. Watermelon: High water content helps flush out toxins and supports hydration, promoting kidney health. Oranges: Packed with vitamin C and antioxidants, oranges help reduce inflammation in the kidneys.

Certain vegetables provide essential nutrients that help support kidney health and overall well-being. Cauliflower: A low-potassium vegetable high in fibre and antioxidants, supporting kidney health and overall wellness. Bell Peppers: Rich in vitamins A and C, bell peppers are low in potassium and beneficial for kidney function. Cucumbers: High water content helps flush out toxins, keeping the kidneys hydrated and functioning optimally. Carrots: Low in potassium and high in fibre, carrots help improve digestion and support kidney health. Spinach (in moderation): Nutrient-rich but high in potassium, so consume in moderation for kidney support. Asparagus: Contains antioxidants and is low in potassium, making it a good choice for kidney health. Sweet Potatoes: A kidney-friendly alternative to regular potatoes, rich in vitamins and fiber while being lower in potassium. Hmm, kidney issues and elevated creatinine levels, they’re tricky things to tackle. In Ayurveda, we focus on understanding the root imbalance, and kidneys are linked to Kapha and Vata doshas. It’s complex and I’d say, it’s important you consult a healthcare provider for proper guidance. A careful balance of Ayurvedic and modern medicine might be the ideal way to go.

Kidney failure, especially at end stage, is serious. Urgent medical care is crucial. Ayurveda can offer supportive care though, targeting symptoms and overall health, but not a standalone cure. High creatinine and urea indicate reduced kidney function and diet and lifestyle changes need to be prioritized.

Diet-wise, favoring light, warm, and digestible foods, is key. Avoid too much protein (animal protein specifically), salt or processed stuff - these might burden your kidneys. A good emphasis on cooked veggies, and grains like quinoa and rice might be better choices. Hydration is important, but carefully balance that with kidney function.

Herbal help like Punarnava, Gokshura or Varun can be supportive; they aid in improving renal function somehow. But, use them under the guidance of a trained professional knowing your specific situation. Ashwagandha sometimes helps with muscle pain, but again, consult a practitioner.

Pain and fatigue could relate to poor filtration - watch your energy and rest when needed. Practice yoga or gentle movement, maybe some Pranayama could help harmonize those aggravated doshas.

Remember to chat with an Ayurveda practitioner who knows your case closely before diving into specific treatments or herbs. Harmony and balance are key, but not at the expense of safety.
