I am really worried about these dark circles under my eyes. Like, they’ve been bothering me for months now! I work late nights, and honestly, my sleep schedule is all over the place. One day I’ll get a decent amount of sleep, and the next, I’m up until 3 AM for some reason. Anyway, I’m finding it super hard to hide them with makeup, and they just look worse with each passing day. I've tried cooling gels and those fancy creams, but nothing seems to work. I've heard people talk about how to remove black under eyes using natural remedies like cucumber slices or tea bags, but do they actually help?? Also, is there a link between diet and dark circles? I mean, sometimes I don’t eat as healthy as I should, so like, could that be it? I really want to hear your suggestions, especially from those who’ve been in the same boat and found some success. If anyone knows any Ayurvedic tips on how to remove black under eyes, please share!!

Starting with diet, an unhealthy diet lacking essential nutrients can worsen your dark circles. Ensuring a balanced diet with enough antioxidants from fruits like berries and veggies, particularly those rich in vitamin C and K, can help. Incorporate foods like amla (Indian gooseberry), which is high in vitamin C, or have some almonds, which are nourishing and good for skin health.

Hydration can’t be stressed enough. Often, dehydration makes the skin under the eyes look darker. Aim for about 8-10 glasses of water daily, depending on your lifestyle and climate.

Your irregular sleep cycle could significantly affect this issue too. Creating a consistent sleep schedule, aiming for 7-8 hours of restful sleep can support the body’s repair mechanisms and skin health. A quick trick—soak a few strands of saffron in warm milk and drink before bedtime. It may aid in improving sleep quality while nourishing the skin.

For topical remedies, try chilled cucumber slices or used tea bags on your eyes for about 10-15 minutes. They help in soothing and reducing puffiness due to their cooling and anti-inflammatory properties. Based on your description, the erratic sleep pattern and dietary habits may be contributing to this. Ayurveda views dark circles as a possible manifestation of excess Vata and Pitta doshas which can lead to stress and disturbed sleep, further exacerbated by poor nutritional intake affecting the sapta dhatus, particularly the rakta (blood) dhatu.

First, consider bringing more routine to your sleep schedule, as consistent rest supports the balance of these doshas. Aim for going to bed and waking up at the same time each day, ideally with 7-8 hours of restful sleep. If your schedule allows, try a light self-massage with warm sesame oil to calm Vata before bed.

For diet, increasing the intake of foods rich in antioxidants and iron, like spinach, legumes, seeds, and nuts can enhance the quality of blood, helping the skin appear more vibrant. Stay hydrated, as dehydration often shows up more prominently around the sensitive under-eye skin.

Applying a paste of turmeric and buttermilk to the under-eye area can lighten dark circles over time. Leave it for about 15-20 minutes and rinse with lukewarm water. Turmeric is known for its antioxidant properties, while buttermilk cools and nourishes the skin.
