Hello Hair‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ greying from 18 years of age is indicative of early Palitya, which is a very common phenomenon nowadays due to factors such as stress, nutritional deficiency, Pitta aggravation, and genetics.

-5 number glasses point out that the eye muscles are weak and there is a Vata-Pitta imbalance in Ayurvedic terms.

–Eyesight can get better to a certain extent (0.5 to 1 number) and the further deterioration can be put on hold by means of proper Ayurvedic & lifestyle care

However, going by the saying “consistency is the key”, you have to be absolutely consistent in following this protocol to bring about changes in your grey hair and eyes

✅AYURVEDIC PLAN OF TREATMENT

👉 For Early Grey Hair (Support for the Reversal at the Root-Level

✔️ Internal Medicines

1. Bhringarajasava 2 tsp + equal water after lunch & dinner ( Most effective for hair pigmentation)

2. Amla Capsule - 1 capsule two times a day ( Antioxidant, root-strengthener)

3. Jeevamrutham 1 tsp at night ( It deeply nourishes scalp, slows down greying)

4. Narikel Lavan ½ tsp with warm water ( The product that most naturally and effectively imparts hair pigmentation)

✔️External (Hair Care Routine)

–Oil (daily or every other day): Neelibhringadi taila Heat a little and then put it on your scalp for 5 minutes.

–Apply THIS paste instead of Henna (to prevent orange color): Prepare mixture: henna 70% Amla powder 2 tbsp Use coffee water for mixing ( Produces dark brown / blackish shade, gets rid of orange colour.)

✅HOME REMEDIES

Use 3–4 times per week:

1. Amla + Coconut oil boil Local application ( Melanin formation is enhanced)

2. Black sesame seeds 1 tsp daily ( A good source of copper + melanin-building minerals)

3. Curry leaves kadha 10–12 leaves boiled in water ( Slows down the greying process)

For eyes (-5 number) – Enhancing eyesight & deterring progression

✔️Internal Medicines

1.Saptamrut Lauh 1 tablet two times daily after meals (Retina and optic nerve are strengthened)

2.Triphala Guggulu 1 tablet at night (Improves eye circulation)

3. Amla Capsule (already mentioned) Best Rasayana for eyes

4.Triphala Ghrita 1/4 tsp at night (Provides the deepest of nourishments to the optic nerve)

✔️External (Eye Strengthening Routine

2. Netra Tarpana (optional if you can find a nearby panchakarma center) – Very effective Ayurvedic therapy for reducing eye power Ideal frequency: once for 7 days for 2 months

✅DIET MODIFICATION

✔️Foods to Include Amla every day Black sesame seeds Almonds soaked overnight Ghee (1–2 tsp/day) Dates, figs Curry leaves Millets Spinach, beetroot, carrots

❌Foods to Avoid (increase Pitta & worsen greying)

Excess tea, coffee Junk food Sour foods (pickles, vinegar, curd at night) Oily, spicy, deep-fried foods Carbonated drinks Late-night sleeping

✅ LIFESTYLE MODIFICATION

–Hair Oil your scalp regularly Don’t use chemical shampoos Reduce henna frequency to once in 2–3 weeks Do not use hot water for head baths Reduce stress (the main reason for early greying)

–Eyes

Follow the 20-20-20 rule (every 20 mins look 20 feet away for 20 seconds) Eye palming twice daily Light eye rotation exercises morning and night Reduce screen brightness Walk early morning barefoot on grass (very good for eyesight)

Warm regards, Dr Snehal ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌Vidhate

hii dear ,

You started greying at 18, which means your hair roots lost pigment very early this usually happens due to genetics, stress, low minerals, or weak nourishment to the scalp. Henna gives orange colour because your natural base hair is light; that’s normal, not your fault. Greying that has already happened will not fully turn black again, but you can slow down further greying, improve hair strength, and reduce dryness with the right internal and external care.

Regarding your -5 number, eyesight cannot fully reverse at this stage, but it can be improved slightly and stabilised so it doesn’t increase further. Ayurveda helps strengthen eye muscles and reduce strain.

Ayurvedic Treatment for Early Greying

Internal Medicines (2–3 months)

Amla Capsule or Powder – 1 capsule twice daily OR 1 teaspoon powder at night with warm water. Bhringraj Capsule/Tablets – 1 tablet twice daily after meals. Triphala Churna – ½ teaspoon at night with warm water. Nilibhringadi Keram (external) – apply on scalp 2–3 times/week at night and wash in morning.

If dryness and brittleness are severe

Keshya Rasayana Lehyam – 1 teaspoon daily at night. Better Alternative to Henna

To avoid orange colour: Mix Henna + Indigo powder – 60% henna + 40% indigo gives natural brown shade – 30% henna + 70% indigo gives darker brown – 100% indigo on top of henna gives almost black

This looks natural and avoids the orange tone.

For Eyesight (-5 power) (It will not become zero, but slight improvement & stabilising is possible)

Internal Support Triphala Ghrita – ½ teaspoon at night with warm milk OR warm water. Saptamrita Lauh – 1 tablet twice daily after food.

External Eye Practice Triphala Eye Wash (once daily): Add 1 teaspoon Triphala to warm water → soak overnight → strain → wash eyes in the morning.

Palming exercise – 2–3 minutes twice daily.

Reduce screen brightness, blink often, take breaks every 20 minutes.

Diet Tips

Include black sesame, dates, almonds, cow ghee, moong dal, and fresh coconut. Avoid excess coffee, stress, late sleeping, and junk food—these worsen greying.

Investigations (if greying started very early)

Thyroid Profile (TSH, T3, T4) Vitamin B12 Vitamin D Ferritin (iron stores) Deficiencies often worsen early greying and dryness.

You can’t reverse all grey hair, but you can stop fast greying, strengthen your roots, reduce dryness, and get a natural darker shade with henna–indigo. Your eyesight also won’t drop more if you follow the routine, and you may notice a small improvement in clarity and strain.

Whenever you want, I can prepare a 30-day routine for hair + eye care so you can follow it easily.

Warm regards, Dr. Karthika

HELLO,

Main complaints -premature greying

this indicates an imbalance mainly in Pitta and Vata doshas, possibly with weak Rasa dhatu(plasma), Rakta dhatu(blood), and Asthi dhatu(bones, which support hair/nails)

DOSHA INVOLVEMENT

PITTA- governs heat, metabolism , when aggravated, burns melanin->premature greying

VATA- thin, falling hair

KAPHA- nourishment, strength, deficiency-> weak roots, oily hair, lack of luster

TREATMENT SHOULD BE FOCUSED TO -to stop hair fall -reverse/slow premature greying -thicken and volumize hair -repair frizzy hair -rejuvinate scalp and nervous system -correct internal imbalances(vata-pitta) -prevent further damage and relapse

START INTERNALLY WITH

1) KESHYA RASAYANA GHRITA - 1/2 tsp with milk in morning empty stomach for 3-4 months =deep rejuvinator for hair, brain, eyes, balances vata-pitta BRAND= Arya Vaidya sala/ vaidyaratnam

2)LOHA BHASMA + NARIKEL LAVAN -loha bhasma- 125 mg+ nairkela lavana- 250 mg take with honey+ ghee once daily after breakfast for 40 days =powerful rejuvination combo for very early greying, rich in iron, balances pitta

3)CHYAWANPRASHA SPECIAL(high amla content) -1 tsp with warm milk daily morning for 12 months =deep rejuvenation, improves immunity, hair growth, pigmentation (BRAND SUGGESTION= AVP dhanwantharam chyawanprasha or Nagarjuna chyawanprasha(with Swarna bhasma)

4)SWARNA MAKSHIK BHASMA -125 mg with amla juice or honey for 2 months =addressess deep rasa/rakta dhatu problems linked to early greying

5)KESYA KALPA CAPSULES -1 cap twice daily after meals for 3 months =bends of rasayana+ anti greying herbs like prashnaparni, Ashoka, bringaraj

EXTERNAL APPLICATIONS

1) KANJUNNYADI KERA TAILA( AVS KOTTAKKAL BRAND) -warm slightly, apply to scalp and hair leave overnight =powerful Kerala medicated oil, anti greying, dandruff removal, anti fall, scalp rejuvinator

2) KAYYUNYADI TAILA -alternate with above oil thrice/week =used in severe greying and scalp dryness, nourishes hair roots

SHAMPOO SUGGESTIONS

DIVYA KESH KANTI ADVANCED(patanjali)= strong herbal shampoo with anti-greying and anti fall ingredients

TRICHUP HERBAL SHAMPOO(VASU)= with keratin + herbal blend =reduces dandruff

KOTTAKAL NEELIBHRINGADI SHAMPOO= gentle but nourishes follicles deeply

FOR STRESS- take MANAS MITRA VATAKAM(avs or Arya Vaidya pharmacy)- 1 tab at bedtime with warm milk for 1 month =used for hair greying/fall due to mental stress, insomnia

NASYA THERAPY- instill 2 drops of keshya taila in each nostril daily in morning =improve hair and brain health

DIET MODIFICATIONS -include Amla, curry leaves, black sesame seeds- 1 tsp/day -cow ghee 1 tsp/day -pumpkin seeds, almonds, walnuts -millets ragi, jowar -fresh fruits, leafy greens -moong dal, rice, old wheat

AVOID -spicy, sour fermented foods -oily, junk, packaged foods -tea, coffee, alcohol -excesssive salt or sugar

START YOUR DAY WITH SOAKED RAISINS AND ALMONDS, WARM WATER WITH LEMON AND HONEY

LIFESTYLE AND YOGA -SARVANGASANA= improves scalp blood flow -ADHO MUKHA SVANASANA = enhances nutrients delivery to follicles -SHASHANKASANA= calms stress -PRANAYAM= balances vata and pitta reduces stress

ROUTINE TIPS -sleep early by 10 pm -avoid excessive screen time -oil scalp before sleeping -use wooden comb(avoid plastic)

FOR VISION IMPORVEMENT

A -5.00 prescription usually cannot be fully reversed naturally but Ayurvedic care can support eye comfort, dryness, strain, and overall eye health

1) TRIPHALA EYE WASH -soak 1 tsp triphala in a cup of water overnight -strain through a Clean cloth -use to wash eyes or splash In the morning =helps with eye fatigue, cooling to eyes, reduces strain

2) GHEE -1 tsp cow ghee daily in food -apply a tiny amount around eyes (not inside) for dryness and strain

YOGA FOR EYES 1-2 min each -palming -blinking exercises -up-down , left right movements -diagonal eye movements -near far focusing These reduce strain and support eye muscles

DIET -carrot, beetroot, pumpkin -amla -spinach, kale -almonds, walnuts -ghee -triphala in diet

AVOID -excess screen time -late nights -dry environments without blinking

LIFESTYLE -follow 20-20-20 rule every 20 min, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds -reduce phone brightness -use anti glare filters -keep a distance phone= 14-16 inches, laptopn=20-25 inches

DO FOLLOW CONSISTENTLY

HOPE THIS MIGHT BE HELPFUL

Hello,

Thank you for explaining your condition in detail. Your concerns of premature greying, dryness of hair, and weekly henna use indicate a long-standing Pitta–Vata imbalance, along with Rakta Dhatu depletion. When Pitta in the hair roots remains aggravated for many years, the melanin-producing cells (hair follicle melanocytes) slow down, causing early greying.

Your high screen-time and -5 number glasses also suggest ocular strain and Pitta–Vata involvement around the eye area, which can indirectly influence premature greying because the optic–scalp region shares common energy channels (Siras).

Ayurveda’s approach here will focus on cooling the scalp, nourishing the roots, supporting melanin function, reducing dryness, and improving overall eye health to reduce strain.

Recommended Investigations 1. CBC – to check for anemia 2. Serum Ferritin – chronic low levels worsen greying 3. Vitamin D3 & B12 levels 4. Thyroid Profile (TSH, T3, T4) 5. Serum Zinc & Copper – very important for melanin activities

Internal Medicines Stage 1 – Pitta Cooling + Hair Root Detox (First 4 weeks) 1. Amla Churna – 1 tsp with warm water in the morning after food 2. Triphala Churna – 1 tsp at bedtime with warm water 3. Saraswata Ghrita – ½ tsp at bedtime (supports hair + eye nourishment)

Stage 2 – Greying Control + Nourishing Melanin (From week 5 onwards) 1. Bhringraj Churna – ½ tsp twice daily after meals with lukewarm water 2. Narasimha Rasayanam – 1 tsp twice daily with warm milk (improves density, shine, root health) 3. Amalaki Rasayana tablets – 1-0-1 after breakfast

These help slowly stimulate pigment cells and reduce rate of greying.

External Application * Hair 1. Neelibhringadi Taila – Warm and massage scalp 3 times a week; leave for 45–60 mins 2. Mild herbal shampoo (shikakai + amla based)

To reduce the orange tint from henna Mix this into your henna next time: 1 tbsp indigo powder 1 tbsp amla powder 1 tsp coffee powder

This gives a darker brown shade, not orange.

* Scalp dryness remedy Twice weekly: Aloe vera gel (fresh) + 3 drops coconut oil Apply for 20 minutes before washing.

Eye Health Support (-5 power)

This won’t remove glasses completely, but it helps reduce strain and may improve 0.25–0.75 power in some people.

Ayurvedic eye routine 1. Triphala kashayam eyewash – Once daily Take 1tbsp of triphala choornam and take 1l of warm - boil and make kashayam. Filter the kashayam with thin white cloth and let it cool down for some time and in luke warm stage wash the eyes with kashayam

2. Palming – 5 minutes twice a day 3. Trataka practice – 3 minutes daily 4. Reduce screen brightness and follow 20–20–20 rule

Diet & Lifestyle Tips Avoid 1. Excess spicy, oily, or deep-fried food 2. Too much tea/coffee 3. Late sleeping 4. Very hot water head bath 5. Chemical hair dyes (they worsen greying)

Include 1. Black sesame seeds – 1 tsp daily 2. Amla in any form 3. 5–6 soaked almonds daily 4. Greens, beetroot, bottle gourd 5. 1–2 tsp ghee daily 6. 1 cup buttermilk after lunch 7. Coconut water 2–3 times/week

Lifestyle 1. Sleep by 10:30 pm 2. Gentle scalp massage weekly 3. Do Sheetali pranayama + Anulom Vilom for cooling Pitta 4. Keep stress naturally low — stress is strongly linked to early greying

With consistent care for a few months, this plan aims to: * Slow down further greying * Improve hair texture and dryness * Support melanin activity * Reduce eye strain and mildly improve your power * Calm the scalp and nourish the roots

Please feel free to reach out for follow-up or medicine adjustments as you progress.

With kind regards, Dr. Sumi MS(Ayu)

Grey hair at a young age often relates to genetics or a deficiency in certain nutrients. Ayurveda suggests focusing on your overall health and balancing your doshas, primarily Pitta, which often plays a role in premature greying. Begin by incorporating more balanced diets with emphasis on iron, calcium, protein. Include amla (Indian gooseberry) daily, high in vitamin C, to nourish hair follicles and help restore color. You can consume it fresh, as a juice, or in powdered form mixed with water.

Massaging your scalp regularly with bhringraj or amla oil can also promote natural hair color. Apply warm oil into the scalp with gentle circular motions and leave it overnight. Use a silk pillowcase as it’s gentler on hair. Yoga or meditation can aid in stress reduction, indirectly impacting hair health.

For your vision, start by practicing ‘Trataka,’ an eye exercise that focuses one’s gaze on a single point, such as a candle flame, to enhance concentration and eyesight. Doing this daily for 10 minutes can help strengthen eye muscles. Consuming triphala powder can improve eyesight over time. Mix 1 tsp of triphala powder in water at night, strain it in the morning and wash your eyes with the strained water.

Make dietary adjustments with foods rich in beta-carotene, vitamin A. Carrots, spinach, and sweet potatoes can enhance eye health. Avoid excessive screen time and ensure you get sufficient sleep to reduce eyestrain.

Remember to consult your healthcare provider before making significant lifestyle changes, especially with your visual prescriptions. If eye issues persist, it’s recommended to seek ophthalmological advice. Incorporating these Ayurvedic practices can be helpful but always prioritize safety and professional guidance when necessary.
