Hello I get why you’re concerned—it’s a bit strange when a 5-year-old can nail poems but struggles with simple sentences. Dont worry we are here to help you out😊 Why Poems Click, but Sentences Don’t This happens a lot with 5-year-olds, and it’s usually not a big deal. Kids pick up poems because: • They’ve got a catchy rhythm • It’s all about memorizing • No need to think too hard or form sentences But sentences need: • Knowing what it all means • Getting the grammar right • Putting words in the right order • Paying attention and processing stuff So, what this is telling us: Your kid’s memory is good. But putting thoughts into words and staying focused is still developing. Ayurvedic Take In Ayurveda, this might be because of: A bit of Kapha blocking things + weaker intelligence + a slight imbalance in Vata. Kapha can cause: • Slower pace • Less interest • Takes a bit longer to grasp things Vata can cause: • Forgetting things • Being a bit inconsistent Is it a Problem? ❌ No This isn’t autism or a learning issue. Your kid: • Gets what you’re saying • Can talk • Learns poems • Can communicate So, the brain’s doing fine—they just need help with focus and forming sentences. What to Do at Home 1Lay off the pressure Forcing things can make them scared and block their brain. 2 Teach little by little Instead of: “I am going to school” Try: “I am” “going” “school” Good Brain Food Give daily: • 1 tsp cow ghee • 5 soaked almonds (made into a paste) • Warm milk These nourishes the brain nerves. Ayurvedic Brain Boosters (Safe for a 5-Year-Old) 1 Brahmi Syrup ½ tsp morning + night after eating 2.Shankhpushpi Syrup ½ tsp two times a day This can Help With: • Focus • Memory • Forming sentences Cut Back on Screen Time No phones, cartoons, or reels They mess with their attention span. Your kid is smart–they just need some time and good brain food. Don’t worry. It’s not a disease. Warm Regards Dr. Snehal Vidhate

📋 Why Poems vs. Sentences - Poems and rhymes are easier because they have rhythm, repetition, and melody, which help memory. - Sentences require understanding of grammar, meaning, and word order — this is more complex and less engaging for a child who isn’t yet interested in English. - Since your child’s overall communication is good, this is not a developmental delay but more of a language learning challenge. 🌿 Ayurvedic Perspective Ayurveda relates learning difficulties to Medha (intellect) and Vata imbalance. For children, gentle Medhya Rasayanas (cognitive herbs) are used to support focus and memory. Common Supportive Herbs (child‑safe, low doses) - Brahmi syrup: 2–3 ml once daily with water. - Shankhpushpi syrup: 2–3 ml once daily with water. - Mandukaparni (Gotu kola): sometimes combined with Brahmi for concentration. 🧘 Practical Tips - Make sentences rhythmic: Turn them into short rhymes or songs, like poems. - Use visuals: Show pictures and ask the child to say simple sentences (“This is a cat”). - One line at a time: Practice short, meaningful sentences instead of long ones. - Daily routine: 5–10 minutes of playful English practice, not forced study. - Yoga for kids: Simple breathing (Anulom Vilom) and playful poses improve focus. This is normal, all children are not same, some takes longer time. If she can learn poem that shows the is normal, nothing to worry. Teach small sentences with 2-3 word first then slowly increase number of words in the sentence. Start with Brahmi churan 1/2tsp once with honey Shankhpushpi syrup 1tsp. In a cup of water.

-5 saal ke bachche poem easily yaad kar lete hain kyunki rhyme hoti hai. Sentences me meaning + order hota hai, isliye thoda difficult lagta hai—especially jab English me interest kam ho. -Ye age me bilkul normal hai 👍 Pressure na dein, bas daily life me chhote-chhote English sentences use karwayein (jaise: Open the door, This is my ball).

5 saal ke bachche mein simple sentence seekhne mein dikkat aana kaafi had tak normal hota hai aur is baat ko lekar ghabrane ki zarurat nahi hoti Jab bachcha poem ya rhyme aasani se yaad kar leta hai lekin sentence yaad rakhne mein uljhan mehsoos karta hai to iska matlab hota hai ki uska dimaag abhi sound rhythm aur repetition ke through zyada seekh raha hai Poem mein lay hoti hai isliye woh naturally yaad ho jati hai jabki sentence mein meaning samajhna yaad rakhna aur bolna teeno cheezein ek saath chahiye hoti hain Is umar mein bachche ka interest aur emotional comfort bahut important hota hai Agar English mein interest kam hai to pressure dene se ya bar bar tokne se bachcha aur resist kar sakta hai Jab overall communication theek hai aur bachcha baat cheet karta hai to yeh kisi badi problem ka sanket nahi hota balki ek temporary learning phase hota hai Ayurvedic nazariye se bachchon ki learning digestion aur brain nourishment se judi hoti hai Agar pachan kamzor ho ya junk food zyada ho to dhyan aur yaad rakhne ki shakti par asar padta hai Is stage par strong dawaon ki zarurat nahi hoti Bas ghee doodh ghar ka khana aur proper neend bahut madad karti hai Agar chaho to subah ek chamach ghee ya raat ko doodh ke saath thoda sa badam pees kar diya ja sakta hai Sentence seekhane ke liye use daily activities ke saath jode jaise glass do door kholo ya toy uthao aur action ke saath repeat karvao Roz thoda thoda bina pressure ke practice karwana sabse behtar hota hai Dheere dheere confidence badhega aur sentences bhi aane lagenge

HELLO, This is actually very common at 5 years, so first Please don’t panic The fact that your child can learn poems but struggles with sentences gives us an important clue PRACTICAL/ LEARNING REASONS -Poems have rhythm, tune, and repetition-> the brain memories them like a song -Sentences need understanding + grammar + word order-> higher cognitive effort -English is likely a second language so —child may understand meaning but not structure —interest is low-> learning becomes forced -At 5 years, langugae development is still maturing In Ayurveda, this relates mainly to -medha (intellect and memory) -Smriti (recall ability) -Vata dominance (vata governs speech, learning, nervous system) POEMS= smriti based learning SENTENCES= Medha + Buddhi based learning So the child’s memory is good, but conceptual processing is still developing- which is age appropriate WHEN TO WORRY? Right now, based on your details -DURATION < 1 month -communication= generally good -learning poems well This is NOT a disorder, just a developmental phase AYURVEDIC MANAGEMENT 1) BRAIN SUPPORTING MEDICATIONS These help concentration, understanding, and sentence formation - BRAHMI SYRUP= 5 ml once daily after dinner = improves comprehensive and learning clarity -SHANKHAPUSHPI SYRUP= 5ml daily after dinner = reduces mental fatigue, improves focus 2) SWARNA PRASHANA IF AVAILABLE -traditional immunity + brain tonic for children -given mostly on pushya nakshatra by nearby ayurvedic pediatrician -helps speech clarity, memory, confidence DIET food plays a huge role INCLUDE -warm milk with a pinch of turmeric -soaked almonds (1-2 peeled, mashed) -ghee 1/2 tsp daily in food -khichdi, rice, dal ,vegetables AVOID -excess junk food -cold drinks, packaged juices -too much sugar increases vata imbalance DAILY ROUTINE Ayurevda works best with routine -fixed sleep time early bedtime -no screens 1 hour before sleep -study time when child is fresh, not tired -learnin should be play based not forced SPEECH FRIENDLY ACTIVITIES Instead of “learn this sentence”, try -Picture. books-> ask child to describe in own words -Daily use sentences -“I want water” -“I am going outside’ -Role play (shop, doctor, teacher) -Praise efforts, never compare SIMPLE YOGA AND PRANAYAM Only playful forms -bhramari= improves speech control -balasana -chantin 'OM” softly 1-3 times WHAT NOT TO DO -don’t force memorization -don’t scold for mistakes -don’t label as “weak” -don’t rush into speech therapy yet EXPECTED IMPROVEMENT -intrest improves in 2-3 month -sentence formation develops naturally by 5.5-6 years Your child’s brain is learning at the right pace. Poem learning shows strong memory- sentence learning will follow with time, understanding and gentle support DO FOLLOW HOPE THIS MIGHT BE HELPFUL THANK YOU DR. MAITRI ACHARYA

This is a red ball. The cat is sleeping. ✓बच्चे को दोहराने को कहें (repeat after you) Songs with actions – Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes या If You’re Happy and You Know It (सेंटेंस जैसी फीलिंग आती है) 2. रोजाना छोटे-छोटे सेंटेंस बनवाएं I like apple. My name is [name]. This is my toy. बच्चे से पूछें: What is this? → जवाब में पूरा सेंटेंस बोलने को कहें 3. घर पर सरल नियम रोज 10–15 मिनट story time – सरल इंग्लिश picture books पढ़ें (Oxford Reading Tree, Ladybird series) No pressure – गलत बोले तो सही करके दोहराएं, डांटें नहीं Positive reinforcement – सही सेंटेंस बोले तो “Wow! Very good!” या छोटा इनाम 4. अगर 2–3 महीने बाद भी सुधार न दिखे Speech therapist / child psychologist से मिलें (SLP – Speech Language Pathologist) छोटी सी screening से पता चल सकता है कि क्या कोई mild delay या learning difficulty है डॉ. गुरसिमरन जीत सिंह MD पंचकर्म
