Malabar Nalpamaradi Tailam - #35766
I am really confused right now. Recently, I started using Malabar Nalpamaradi Tailam after hearing great things about it from friends. Everyone says it helped their skin issues, which is what I’m dealing with. But like, I’m not sure if I’m using it correctly. I thought it would help clear up my acne scars, but I've noticed my skin feeling kinda greasy instead. I’m not sure if that's normal. I apply Malabar Nalpamaradi Tailam twice a day, but sometimes, even if I rinse my face, I feel like the oiliness sticks around. My skin has also broken out more after starting this. I need to know if that’s just a phase? Or am I doing something wrong here?? Last week, I visited my doctor, and he ssaid it might be too heavy for my skin type, but I'm feeling hesitant to stop using it. I guess what I'm really asking is what should I expect when using Malabar Nalpamaradi Tailam? Could it be aggravating my breakouts instead of helping? If it does take longer to work, how long should I stick with it before deciding to try something else? Thanks a bunch!

Malabar Nalpamaradi Tailam is an Ayurvedic oil renowned for brightening skin complexions and resolving pigmentation issues. It’s composed primarily of four types of bark (from the fig family) and includes turmeric, which are traditionally known for their anti-inflammatory and healing properties. However, when it comes to skin type variations, oil can sometimes lead to unexpected results, as you’re experience suggests.
Your dosage of twice daily might indeed be excessive if your skin tends towards oily. This could lead to more breakouts or a greasy feeling, especially if your skin does not absorb heavy oils well, which sounds like what’s happening to you. Typically, heavier oils may not suit pitta-type or pitta-kapha mixed skin, as they’re prone to oiliness and inflammation.
Consider adjusting your routine. Applying Malabar Nalpamaradi Tailam in once daily or every other day, preferably at night when your skin can absorb nutrients without exposure to pollutants, may be beneficial. Plus, make sure to cleanse your face thoroughly before application to minimize any pore clogging. Allow the oil to sit for 30 minutes before washing it off with a mild cleanser that suits your current skin type.
Given the feedback from your doctor, consider mixing in lighter options, such coconut or almond oil to cut down on the heaviness. If your breakouts continue despite reducing-use, it’s wise to discontinue and explore alternatives better suited for sensitive or acne-prone skin. In terms of timing, most Ayurvedic treatments require at least four to six weeks to observe noticeable improvements. But if adverse reaction persist, stopping use sooner is safer.
Each individual’s skin can respond differently, so keeping a close monitor on your skin’s response is crucial. Finally, if confusion persists, seeking guidance from an Ayurvedic practitioner can tailor advice to your specific dosha imbalance and skin-type.
