how to reduce over heat in body - #39763

Anthony

I am just feeling really uncomfortable lately, like my body is always overheated. It’s strange, I mean, I sweat more than usual and even when I step outside for just a minute, it feels like I’m in a sauna or something. A week ago, I did a blood test and the docs said everything looked fine, nothing major, but why do I feel like this? I’ve tried drinking more water and staying cool, but nothing seems to work to help me figure out how to reduce over heat in body. I also notice it gets worse after eating spicy food or even caffeine, which I love but now I’m scared to have my morning coffee. It's like a never-ending cycle! Friends suggest cooling herbs and teas, but I don’t know what to choose. Someone mentioned peppermint tea could help, while another swore by chamomile. I really don't want to keep feeling like I’m on fire! If anyone has tips on how to reduce over heat in body naturally or what Ayurvedic remedies could work, please let me know! I really want to feel normal again. Any advice would be so helpful. Thanks!

Your symptoms suggest an imbalance, possibly an excess of Pitta dosha, which govern heat and metabolism in the body. It’s no wonder spicy foods and caffeine, which aggravate Pitta, are triggering your discomfort. Let’s explore some practical Ayurvedic methods to cool things down.

First, dietary adjustments can make a significant difference. Avoid spicy, sour, salty, and caffeinated items as much you can. Prioritize cooling, Pitta-pacifying foods like sweet fruits (such as melons, grapes, and pears), cucumbers, and coconut water. Consuming aloe vera juice (1-2 tablespoons daily, mixed with water) can also help to balance internal heat.

Herbal teas are indeed invaluable. Peppermint and chamomile are both effective, but mint tea might be more suited for Pitta as it helps cool the body quickly. For chamomile, it’s calming, supporting a restful state. You might alternate these or choose one that feels most soothing. Another noteworthy herb is Shatavari, known to balance Pitta. Consider Shatavari powder, maybe half a teaspoon with warm milk at bedtime.

Daily practices like abhyanga (self-oil massage) with cooling oils, such as coconut or sandalwood, can help. Perform this gently, allowing the oil to absorb before a warm bath, bringing deeper relaxation. Practicing yoga with postures like cooling forward bends or gentle twists and incorporating practices like Sheetali pranayama (a cooling breath technique) can further regulate body temperature.

Lastly, it’s important to ensure you’re staying hydrated but not with cold water straight from fridge – opt for room temperature or slightly cool water, sipped throughout the day with a few fresh mint leaves or rose petals added for extra cooling effect.

Observe your body’s response and make incremental changes. However, if these measures don’t alleviate your symptoms, consulting an Ayurvedic practitioner for a personalized assessment might be beneficial for more specific guidance.
