how much time multani mitti on face - #41108
I am really struggling with my skin lately. I've been trying different things to clear up my breakouts and someone told me about Multani Mitti. I heard it’s great for oily skin, so I was super excited! But, I’m not exactly sure how to use it right. Like, how much time do I need to leave Multani Mitti on my face? I've been mixing it with rosewater, and honestly, I started with 10 minutes, but then I felt like it wasn’t enough. I left it for like 30 minutes the other day, and my skin felt really tight after, but I’m not sure if that’s good or bad. Do you guys think it’s okay to keep Multani Mitti on for longer? I don’t want to irritate my skin or anything, ya know? I read somewhere it helps with pigmentation too! If I combine it with other ingredients, will that change how much time Multani Mitti on face is safe? I really need a little guidance here, cause I'm kinda lost. Any advice from you all would mean a lot! Thanks!

Typical application time for Multani Mitti, or Fuller’s Earth, on the face is around 15 to 20 minutes. Leaving it longer, like 30 minutes, can make your skin feel tight which might not always be beneficial especially if it’s causing discomfort. Multani Mitti is renowned for absorbing excess oil and impurities from the skin, which is excellent for oily and acne-prone skin types. However, if it remains on your face until it’s completely dry, it can strip your skin of its natural oils, leading to irritation. So, 15–20 minutes is typically a good balance.
When you mix Multani Mitti with rosewater, you’re creating a soothing mask that can help maintain the skin’s moisture balance while providing its detoxifying benefits. But if you’re planning to add other ingredients, such as lemon juice or turmeric, which are often used for pigmentation and brightening, be cautious. Lemon juice is acidic and can increase skin sensitivity, especially if overused or left for too long.
For best results, you might try this: stick with the base mix of Multani Mitti and rosewater and observe how your skin reacts over a couple of weeks, applying it every other day or thrice a week. If you notice improvements and feel your skin isn’t overly dry or irritated, you can gradually introduce small amounts of other ingredients, ensuring each new combination doesn’t exceed the initial 15–20 minute window.
If your skin begins to feel too tight or shows signs of irritation after wash, don’t hesitate to moisturize immediately to restore hydration. It is also key to maintain a balanced routine, integrating gentle cleansing, regular moisturizing, and not over-exfoliating or over-masking, to support your skin’s overall wellbeing. If your skin remains reactive, consult with a healthcare professional to tailor a plan specifically for your skin’s needs.
