Weight gain despite precautions, leg swelling, back pain, and breathlessness suggest several possible underlying issues. The swelling could indicate fluid retention potentially linked to kidney or heart issues. The back pain and breathlessness could be related to a sedentary lifestyle, muscular tension, or even cardiovascular concerns. Immediate medical evaluation, especially if these symptoms are new or worsening, is crucial.

From an Ayurvedic standpoint, the symptoms could be linked to kapha dosha imbalance, which can cause fluid retention, weight gain, and lethargy. Addressing the balance within the body can be beneficial. Here are steps you can take:

1. Herbal Teas & Concoctions: Begin your day with a warm cup of ginger tea. Ginger is known to stimulate the digestive fire (agni), helping in water retention and enhancing metabolism. Add a pinch of black pepper for added benefits.

2. Dietary Adjustments: Limit your intake of salty, oily, and heavy foods as these can aggravate Kapha. Favor a diet that’s light, warm, and freshly cooked with plenty of spices like cumin, mustard seeds, and turmeric that can aid digestion and reduce swelling.

3. Physical Activity: Gentle yoga or walking might be beneficial, but ensure it’s within your comfort. Practice pranayama (breathing exercises) to help with breathlessness; Anulom Vilom and Kapalbhati can be particularly supportive.

4. Massages: Try an Abhyanga (self-massage) with warm sesame oil which may help reduce swelling and improve circulation. Do this preferably in the morning before bathing.

5. Hydration: Actually, keeping hydrated with warm water, perhaps infused with a piece of cinnamon or water stored in a copper vessel overnight can be quite beneficial.

If these symptoms persist or worsen, it’s critical to seek prompt medical attention to rule out any serious conditions. Monitoring by a healthcare professional, alongside these Ayurvedic strategies, can ensure a holistic and safe approach to your health.

Your symptoms may involve a kapha imbalance and potential vata disturbance, affecting your body’s metabolic processes, circulation, and lubrication of joints. In the Siddha-Ayurvedic system, it is important to address both the root cause and associated symptoms through personalized approaches.

First, for immediate relief from leg swelling, consider applying a warm paste of dried ginger (sunthi) and castor oil over the affected areas. Do this once daily, especially in the evening, which may help improve circulation and reduce fluid accumulation. Also, elevate your legs for at least 20 minutes several times a day to facilitate drainage.

For weight management, support your digestive fire (agni) by consuming a light, easily digestible diet. Favor warm foods and cooked vegetables, while reducing intake of heavy, oily, or overly sweet foods that increase kapha. Regular intake of a decoction made from coriander seeds and cumin seeds (boil 1 tsp of each in 2 cups of water, reducing it to 1 cup) may help boost digestion and metabolism. Drink this twice daily before meals.

To ease your back and waist pain, gentle stretching and yoga could be beneficial. Specific poses like Matsyasana (fish pose) and Bhujangasana (cobra pose) can be helpful but avoid pushing too hard. Meanwhile, enhancing energy flow through the nadis with daily Abhyanga (self-massage) using warm sesame oil could alleviate discomfort. Warm the oil and massage gently for 15 minutes before showering.

Given your breathlessness and the complexity of your symptoms, it would be prudent to seek immediate medical attention to rule out any serious underlying conditions like heart or kidney issues, particularly as Ayurveda is supportive rather than primary treatment in such scenarios. Attend to this without delay to ensure your safety and health.
