Your symptoms, especially the hot flashes, redness, and associated dryness, suggest an imbalance often related to excess Pitta. However, the cold feet indicate some Vata involvement. The approach should be around pacifying both Pitta and Vata while supporting your natural hormonal rhythms.
First, let’s talk about dietary suggestions. It’s important to favor cooling, hydrating foods that can help balance the Pitta dosha. Consume foods like cucumbers, watermelon, and coconut water. Incorporate cooling herbs like coriander, mint, and fennel in your diet. Avoid spicy, fried, and overly sour or salty foods which can aggravate Pitta. Favor whole grains like rice and barley that are balancing for both doshas.
Hydration is crucial, so sip on room-temperature water throughout the day with a splash of lime or a few rose petals, which can help to cool your system. At the same time, ensure that warm, fresh meals are consumed to maintain digestive fire, preventing Vata’s cold nature from taking over.
For topical application to ease skin dryness and irritation, apply a coconut or almond oil gently on affected areas. This will provide moisture and cool your skin. If redness persists, you can try an oatmeal and honey mask on your face and hands, which are soothing and nourishing.
Engage in a routine of gentle yoga and pranayama, focusing on cooling practices like Sheetali breathing. This can help manage both your body’s heat and stress levels contributing to your fatigue.
Sleep hygiene is important too. Try to go to bed by 10 PM, and make sure your sleeping environment is cool and comfortable.
Remember, the intense hot flashes could be a sign of hormonal shifts during perimenopause, and if symptoms are frequent, consider consulting with a healthcare professional. Ayurveda’s herbs such as Shatavari, can also be relevant though should be taken under a practitioners guidance to ensure its appropriateness based on your prakriti.
