Hello I get why you’re concerned. Uric acid right at the upper limit (7 mg/dl), plus nagging shoulder and neck pain—yeah, that’s enough to mess with your day. The good news? Your level’s not crazy high, and with the right Ayurvedic approach, you can get this under control.
YOUR CONCERN
Age: 50 Uric acid: 7 mg/dl (borderline high) Symptoms: Shoulder pain, neck pain and stiffness
Your main question: Can Triphala Churna lower uric acid?
How Ayurveda Sees This
In Ayurveda, what you’re describing usually comes from Vata going out of balance, which leads to pain and stiffness. There’s also Ama (think: metabolic toxins) building up, and a bit of Rakta dushti (impurities in the blood). When Ama mixes with Vata and Rakta, you end up with joint pain, stiffness in the neck and shoulders, and yes—early signs of Vatarakta if it keeps going unchecked.
What About Triphala Churna?
Short answer: It helps, but don’t expect miracles if you’re already in pain. Triphala Churna is great for: - Boosting digestion (Agni) - Helping clear out Ama - Mild detox - Keeping your bowels happy
So, it’s good for preventing uric acid from creeping higher, but if you’re already feeling pain, Triphala alone won’t cut it. It’s a helper—not the whole solution.
What’s the Goal? - Bring uric acid down slowly and safely - Clear out Ama - Ease the pain and stiffness in your neck and shoulders - Stop it from turning into gout or damaging joints further
Here’s a Simple Ayurvedic Plan
Internal Medicines: - Triphala Churna: Half a teaspoon with warm water at night. Stick with it.
- Guduchi (Giloy) Ghan Vati: One tablet after food, twice a day. This helps your body deal with uric acid and cools inflammation.
- Kaishore Guggulu: One tablet after food, twice a day. Especially good for pain linked to uric acid.
External Therapy—Don’t Skip This!
- Massage your shoulder and neck daily with Mahanarayan Taila or Kottamchukkadi Taila. - After massage, use a hot water pack or fomentation. This combo really loosens up stiffness and eases pain.
Diet and Lifestyle—Honestly, This Matters Most
Avoid: - Red meat and organ meats - Alcohol (beer’s the worst) - Lots of pulses (rajma, chana, soy) - Fried and junk foods
Eat more: - Warm, easy-to-digest foods (rice, roti, moong dal) - Veggies like bottle gourd, ridge gourd, pumpkin - Plenty of warm water - Buttermilk with lunch (not at night)
When to Recheck and What to Watch For - Repeat your uric acid test in 4–6 weeks - If pain hangs around, get ESR/CRP blood tests, and maybe an X-ray of your neck to rule out other issues
Triphala helps, but you need more than that—early Ayurvedic care makes a big difference. Diet is just as vital as medicine here.

Triphala churna mainly supports digestion and detoxification, but does not directly reduce uric acid levels for controlling uric acid and relieving joint pain in shoulder and neck. Yes, but it is not enough alone.
Triphala Churna is helpful because it cleanses the colon (Virechana). Since Uric Acid is a waste product, Triphala helps the body flush it out through the gut.
However: For acute pain and a level of 7, Triphala is too mild. You need specific blood purifiers.
Prescription for High Uric Acid: Kaishore Guggulu: 2 tablets twice daily. Time: After food with warm water.
Guduchi (Giloy) Powder/Juice: Dosage: 1 teaspoon powder or 20ml juice daily.
Punarnava Mandur: 1 tablet twice daily.
Dietary Rule Strictly Avoid: Sour foods (Curd/Yogurt, Lemon, Tomato, Tamarind, Pickles) and Alcohol.
