Hello, Treating varicose veins (Siraja Granthi) at 72 involves strengthening the vein walls and improving blood flow to prevent further pooling and skin complications. In Ayurveda, this is often viewed as a Vata-Pitta imbalance. Vata causes the loss of elasticity in the vein walls, while Pitta can lead to inflammation or a “burning” sensation. The goal is to purify the blood (Rakta Shodhana), improve circulation (Anulomana), and provide external support to the vessel walls. Prescription : 1. Sahacharadi Kashayam: This is the primary internal remedy for lower limb vascular issues. It helps reduce pressure and relieves the aching associated with bulging veins. Dose: 15 ml mixed with 45 ml of lukewarm water, twice daily, 30 minutes before food. 2. Chandraprabha Vati: This acts as a mild diuretic and systemic cleanser, helping to reduce any localized swelling (edema) around the ankle. Dose: 1 tablet twice daily after food. 3. Pinda Thailam (External): A cooling, Pitta-balancing oil that helps with inflammation and bulging. Apply very gently in an upward direction (from ankle toward the knee) twice daily. Do not apply heavy pressure directly on the bulging vein.
