How can Ayurvedic remedies like Ashwagandha help boost stamina and energy levels? - #23110

Samuel

I am really struggling with my energy levels lately, and I feel like I need to find ways how to increase stamina. I used to jog for 30 minutes every morning, but now I can barely manage 10 without feeling completely wiped out. I’ve tried different diets, but nothing seems to do the trick. My friend suggested Ayurvedic remedies and mentioned something about ashwagandha? Is that relevant when looking for ways how to increase stamina? Also, I've been feeling kind of low and lethargic. Any specific foods or routines you all recommend? It's frustrating not being able to keep up with my kids!

Feeling a decrease in energy and stamina can be quite frustrating, especially when it's affecting your daily activities like playing with your kids or maintaining an exercise routine. In Ayurveda, low energy levels can often relate to an imbalance in your doshas, particularly vata and kapha doshas. Ashwagandha is indeed relevant in such scenarios. It is a renowned adaptogen used in Ayurveda that helps the body manage stress, boost energy levels, improve stamina, and promote overall wellness. Ashwagandha supports agni (digestive fire), enhancing nutrient absorption, which plays a crucial role in maintaining energy. Taking ashwagandha root powder (about 1 teaspoon) in warm milk before bed can be beneficial. Do ensure you're not lactose intolerant if consuming with milk. Additionally, addressing diet and routine, favor warm, nourishing foods to balance vata. Cooked grains, such as brown rice or quinoa, root vegetables, and dal are excellent choices. Consider incorporating ghee in your meals for its grounding effect. Avoid raw foods which may increase vata dosha, leading to more fatigue. A daily self-massage with sesame oil before showering can also assist with keeping energy levels up. This practice grounding excess vata and improving circulation, boosting your vitality. In terms of routines, prioritize regulating your sleep schedule. Aim for seven to eight hours per night, ideally sleeping by 10 pm. Consistent wake-up and sleep times support your circadian rhythm, and regularity is key for stability in energy levels. Hydration is crucial — aim for warm water throughout the day to maintain proper hydration without extinguishing digestive fire. Keep stress at bay with pranayama or meditation practices; they can significantly impact your overall energy levels and mood. If despite these recommendations, energy levels remain stagnant, it’s important to consult with a healthcare professional to rule out underlying issues such as anemia or thyroid imbalances. Ayurveda works best when it fits into a comprehensive approach that considers all aspects of health.
